In a recent panel discussion for the Assurant Real Estate Summit, PDR Design Director Laura Beth Mertz joined Beth Ann Siegel (JLL) to discuss trends shaping the future of work. AI design, neurodiversity, and the importance of investing in experience will be critical initiatives organizations must prioritize in the coming years. Doing so means creating adaptable organizations that can be agile as the world changes and new generations enter the workplace. Work has changed, and so must the workplace experience. Special thanks to Beth Ann Siegel (JLL) for collaborating on this presentation and to Ron Lewis (Assurant) for trusting in PDR to help shape the future of workplace at Assurant. #FutureOfWork #RealEstateTrends #WorkplaceExperience #HybridWork #InclusiveWorkplace #CommunitySpaces #WeArePDR #AssurantRealEstateSummit

Turning data from #smarter #buildings into actionable insight can be a challenge for corporate occupiers, but it’s one being made much easier by #artificialintelligence says Sven Moller, Director, Colliers Workplace Advisory, and Harriet Wiseman, Associate Director, Workplace Advisory, Colliers Occupier Services #EMEA. Generative #AI can not only process and analyse the vast amounts of data produced by some modern buildings but can use this to make recommendations and predictions for optimal #workplace sizes and locations, as well as how these should be designed and fitted. However, this does not negate the need for human #data and #compliance specialists to ensure that algorithms function in a way that is ethical and credible. Global consulting: Future of work | People Experience | Workplace Strategy | Change Management | Seamless return to office
Reading Julian Rimmer's piece gave me a glimpse into the potential of our workplaces 🏢. Being deeply involved in workplace guidance, I see numerous ways companies can take advantage of these changes, and here's what I think. Imagine walking into your office and everything just "clicks" 🌡️. The lighting is just right 💡, the temperature feels perfect. AI makes this magic happen. It recalls our preferences and adjusts the settings for us. I'm particularly fascinated by Moser's 'living labs'. It’s like a sandbox for new tech 🛠️, testing its real-world utility. As an advisor, I emphasize the importance of such validation before any tech deployment in businesses. Maintenance is a topic close to my heart. AI offers a proactive approach 🔧. Before a chair creaks or a light flickers, AI sends out alerts. This preventive approach is not just efficient but also cost-saving 💰. Assisting clients in integrating this can significantly optimize their operational costs. Rethinking office space is on everyone's agenda 🔄. It's about optimizing every square meter. With AI insights, we can reshape spaces to be more efficient and employee-friendly. I actively guide clients in this direction, ensuring their space is both productive and comfortable. What's beautiful about AI is its people-centric approach ❤️. It silently works to create a sense of belonging for everyone. This is a cornerstone of my advisory role. Ensuring inclusive, welcoming environments is essential🎉. To sum up, while AI operates discreetly in the background, its impact is transformative 🍃. Julian's insights highlight this potential, and in my role, I see endless opportunities. I'm here to guide clients, helping them support AI to craft workspaces that are not just smart, but also deeply human-centric 🌐.

How can facility management professionals revolutionize the workplace with AI? The power of choice as to where one works and how one works is not the future, it is the now. More so than ever, organizations are being tasked with meeting the needs of employees in demand of a hybrid work environment that fosters health and well-being, productivity, and flexibility. Artificial intelligence is a key ingredient for Facilities professionals to design, build, and maintain collaborative environments. Take something as simple as workplace noise. Have you ever been distracted by what others are doing around you? AI-powered noise mitigation strategies have been proven to improve employee concentration and well-being. "Noise patterns can be analyzed by AI algorithms, identifying peak times and areas where noise pollution is at its greatest." According to a recent study by Deloitte, 82% of surveyed FM's reported that AI in conjunction with other workplace technologies, has increased employee job satisfaction and performance. There has also been a realization of a 20% cost savings when AI is integrated with office space design and monitoring systems. AI and building technologies cover an unlimited range of possibilities for how organizations can address challenges and become more innovative and agile. FM's can now make more informed decisions regarding the expansion, consolidation, or redesign of their active properties. Real estate owners have reported that AI has helped them to reduce operating costs and increase revenue. I've been going about this all wrong!!! As I reflect on my commitment to addressing workplace inequities, I've realized that my primary focus has been on educating people within these settings. Despite my efforts to raise awareness, I often witnessed the persistence of the same problematic behaviors—a common experience. It struck me that if I truly wanted to drive significant change within organizations and break down the barriers to progress, I needed to adopt a different strategy. I recognized the need to scrutinize the long-standing processes and systems that posed the most significant obstacles. I'm talking about the systems that have been in place for ages—like the inherently biased nature of performance reviews, the infrequent and often ignored engagement surveys, and the ambiguity of goal-setting. These are the systems that contribute most to inequity within organizations. That's why I was excited to develop a tool that could replace these outdated processes. Let me introduce you to Aerodei which is on the verge of revolutionizing organizations and actively dismantling workplace barriers. Aerodei is an AI-powered inclusive performance platform that not only quantifies but also automates employee goals, performance reviews, and workplace surveys. This transformation not only saves valuable time but also eliminates subjectivity, paving the way for genuine progress and inclusivity within organizations. #startup #diversityandinclusion #bias

Data has the power to inform more effective approaches to #realestate and help organisations get ahead of the decision-making curve, says William Harris, Head of Technology and Innovation, Occupier Services #EMEA But having #data is a lot less important than knowing what to do with it. To play the most effective role in #realestatestrategy data needs to be drawn from various sources and married to human expertise. So instead of splashing out on the latest #AI systems, occupiers should concentrate on developing their internal data resources and capabilities.
