Special thanks to Dumlupınar and Anadolu Universities for welcoming our Art Team this week! 🎨 Our time was spent engaging in portfolio assessment sessions with the students and delivering presentations on game character design. Looking forward to such events in the future!

If you've recently started following me and we don't know each other already, I thought I'd share a bit about the work I do, why I do it, and the aims and values that drive it. Since 2020 I've been speaking up about why scholars, games/XR+ developers, museum professionals, and other creative teams need to be talking, working, and collaborating with one another. Why? 🎮 🎬More people than ever before are learning about the past, other societies, and art and cultural heritage through video games and other forms of popular entertainment - television, films, etc. . 🌍 Yet, visibility of accurate, authentic information on global histories and visual cultures is still low in games and in digital cultural heritage ⚠️And, problematic stereotypes and misconceptions about minoritised communities are still being perpetuated in the entertainment we consume 📣If this strikes a chord with you, please visit my website for more on how I work with creative teams to make better games and entertainment inspired by global Islamic civilization, art, and history👇🏽 If you’d like to hear more from me, join my free community bridging games/entertainment, GLAM, and the academy. i lost every art competition in 11th grade it felt like a punch to my self esteem i questioned my talent and passion but what went wrong i realized i was too focused on winning i forgot why i loved art in the first place so i took a step back here’s what i did next 1. i revisited my favorite artists 2. i explored different styles and mediums 3. i kept a daily art journal 4. i took feedback from mentors and peers 5. i embraced failure as part of the process 6. i did not compare myself till the end of the competition by the end of 12th grade everything changed i won every competition that year self reflection transformed my approach to art it reignited my passion and creativity p.s. what have you learned from your failures?

Collaboration is a key value at CMYK Art Studio. Art Education tends to be a very individually focused—developing your skills, growing your creativity, showing your work. But I imagine something different. What if young creatives learned to work together, bringing each of their individual strengths to the table, to create in partnership, and learn from one another? We’d end up with some pretty crazy amazing ideas and projects! And if those young creatives grew up to work in creative fields, we’d have creative professionals that saw value in collaboration and not solely pushing forward their own ideas and concepts. That’s the fuel for innovation. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ekKdEu6g

It's not only about the result. 🎨 It's also about the process. When painting, you use various pigments, tools, and brushes, in a constant process of creating through discovering. This is where the rewarding and calming "flow experience" can begin. Flow is a state where you're engaged in an activity you enjoy, using skills you've developed with ease. 🪄 Find the plan to improve art education and discover Glaze’s offer for Schools and Museums: 📍 Museum offer: https://bit.ly/3XgEREw 📍 Glaze Education: https://bit.ly/47e8niE

100% agree and yet much of the time considering professions and interests that may depart from the linear path of academia is discouraged and looked down upon. That viewpoint is naive and short sighted. Art historians cultivate critical knowledge about humanity and civilization—and the relevance and application of that knowledge extends far beyond a classroom. It is imperative that Professions and Adminstrators teach that as much as critical theory.

I have many thoughts on this one (in relation to art history). Primarily, though, art history programs need to help their graduates think about their skills more entrepreneurially. Which is quite difficult when most of the professors have no experience working outside academia or museums.

My students who have engaged in creating a two-point perspective artwork have developed a range of valuable skills that contribute to their artistic growth. They have learned to manipulate space and depth effectively, mastering the concept of vanishing points and horizon lines to create realistic, three-dimensional environments on a flat surface. Here is just an example of one.

"STEM studies make the world function, but art makes the world enjoyable" - Andrew McCorkle I never thought a simple conversation with a friend and a mentor would turn into a large driving force in my inspiration to bridge the gap between what makes the world function and what makes the world enjoyable... but it did. hashtag #SCAD Savannah College of Art and Design Thank you Michelle Garrigan-Durant Dana Pourciau Savannah College of Art and Design Karl J. Do you have something you’ve always wished you’d done? I’ve always wished I had gone to art school. I fell in love with art classes during my Bachelor’s at U of Waterloo many years ago. Forward 45+ years and I was driving to Niagara Falls with my friend and running partner Etta Moffatt to teach and speak at a conference and we got to talking about this. As I drove my friend researched NSCAD University, it’s faculty and programs. By the time we arrived at our hotel I was registered for the upcoming Portfolio Day. I was accepted to do a Visual Arts Certificate in Studio:textiles/fashion. Today was orientation day and tomorrow I have my first class. A dream come true. My intention? To have lots of fun, learn as much as I can and broaden my scope as an artist. #nevertoolate #midlifewoman #nevertooold
