I spend much time thinking about over-tourism and find it fascinating how places touted as the best or most beautiful in Italy are reliably the ones filled with commissionable hotels and activities and services available in English. Meanwhile, the most beautiful place in Italy is inexpensive, uncrowded, has delicious food, and is the very definition of authentic. And nobody is there. I wrote about Palinuro for my newsletter on Substack. https://lnkd.in/eJFCtGqF

Hot off the presses! (Carrillo & Barbieri, 2024) "Thriving in a World of Giants: Craft Breweries’ Workings in a Major Tourism Destination" Working on this paper has been quite a journey, a very fulfilling one. You have no idea how much I've enjoyed reading about the socio-economic dynamics within and around the craft beer scene. But conducting our own research about this topic in Peru and being able to show it to the world in such a prestigious journal, that is the most amazing feeling! Especially because this is one of the very few papers about craft beer in South America. In this study, we show you the strategies that craft brewers apply to differentiate from the big industrial companies instead of fighting against them. Their actions reveal, among other things, craft brewers' strong connection with the local culture and society. And all of this happens in one of the most popular and magical tourism destinations in the world: Cusco. I am not going to spoil it for you, instead, I kindly invite you to read this qualitative study with a beer in hand. I am pretty sure that, wherever you are, your local craft beer scene has a lot in common with ours. Thanks for reading us! Salud! https://lnkd.in/erAE3Css #craftbeer #research #leisurestudies #sociology #tourism

California: What do you picture in your mind when you think of caves? Spelunking and potholing or perhaps crawling on all fours to fit through a tiny space may come to mind. Perhaps the experience of absolute and complete darkness, the degree of darkness so dark you can’t see your hand in front of you? Maybe you imagine more sinister things such as spiders, cobwebs or other imaginable things in the dark. Caves evoke different ideas and feelings to many people. #california #winecaves @Charlesfrize #onlinemarketinginGhana #tourismmarketing #OnlinemarketinginEurope #DigitalBranding #Ghana #tourismghana #travelandtours #worldtravel #travelindustry #AdvertisingSpecialist #travel #traveltips #FrizeMediaTravel

Ready for 2024, the year for coolcationing and shoulder season travel 🗺 Travelers are craving sustainability and authenticity more than ever, which is giving us the opportunity to introduce travelers to our authentic culture and lifestyle. As locals in Ålesund and Sunnmøre, what are the hidden gems we can share with small groups of travelers? 😍 Multiple suggestions are more than welcome 🙌 My first suggestions: - Buying fresh seafood directly from the boats in Ålesund city center - Discovering the underwater village in Lygnstøylvatnet - Slow down and go fishing for hours. Afterwards, learn how to gut and cook the fish you caught. - Having a crab feast in a local boathouse, and learn how to break the crab claws yourself. BTW, the crab guts are the best part of the crab, in my opinion. What can you add to the list❔ Destinasjon Ålesund & Sunnmøre ÅLESUND SENTRUMSFORENING #ålesund #sunnmøre #norway #coolcationing #shoulderseasontravel #localfood
