"Rather than dodging the possibility of uncomfortable conversations, fundraisers should be encouraged in the coming days to model what they’re often best at — being great conversationalists, boundary spanners, and bridge-builders." Good advice for nonprofit institutions (and executive search pros, too 😉)! #PurposeDriven #SearchExcellence #RadicalEmpathy #HigherEducation #Healthcare #Nonprofit

Interesting read from The Chronicle of Philanthropy! Connections built over social media are powerful, especially between nonprofits and young people. A recent report found that when it came to mid-level donors, "72 percent of longtime donors first got connected with their favorite charity by age 39 (and 40 percent of that number had connected to that nonprofit by age 19)." It's exciting to consider how investing time and energy into connections now can build lasting relationships that benefit your advocacy in the future. #philanthropy #nonprofits #communications #socialmedia

An exercise we do with clients is to identify their audience's pain points. Part of the reasoning behind this exercise is to see what solution their audience needs so that we can tailor the organization's messaging to directly resonate. For nonprofits in particular, this type of thoughtful and strategic language approach is critical to successfully engage donors. This NonProfit PRO article shares more examples of how to speak to donors to help them solve a problem. "We need more individual donors" is probably the statement we hear most often from prospective clients. And, truth be told, it drives us a little bit nuts... 🫠 Why? Nine times out of ten, when we dig just a little deeper, we find that the client isn't actively engaging the donors they already have AND/OR they're not spending time connecting with their community. Fundraising is a contact sport! Okay, maybe not a sport, but it does require human contact, and intentional connection! Here are a few key questions we use to help our clients evaluate how effective their current engagement strategies are, or are not: - When was the last time you had a face-to-face donor meeting? - When was the last time you presented a specific fundraising ask that included impact metrics? - How are you engaging the networks of your Board members and longtime supporters? - How often are you checking in with your existing donors to provide updates on their investments? - When was the last time you took part in active networking (i.e. organized a lunch/coffee/zoom with someone who might have interest in your work, attended a networking event where like-minded individuals are present, etc.)? If you want your organization to have abundant resources, you need to get serious about building your community of supporters. This can NOT be done passively and from a distance. Building community and creating connection requires direct, human contact, active listening and an on-going focus on creating opportunities for engagement and conversation. Long story short, more intentional connections = more money for your cause. If you weren't able to answer the questions above, it might be time for some outside support. Ready to increase your individual fundraising permanently? We're here to help take your strategy from passive to active. Boost Community Engagement and Support with these 3 Key Strategies: 🚀 Want to connect with your local community? Building strong community relationships is vital for any nonprofit's success. Here are 3 practical strategies you can implement today: Be a True Partner: Do not just show up to things to promote yourself. Serve in multiple capacity at things that matter to the community and do not set up a table or any marketing. Just be there to help. Leverage Your Space: Host events and workshops in your office to build relationships and be a true resource to your community with no strings attached. Create Mutually Beneficial Opportunities: Ensure that your engagement activities benefit both the community and your organization. If everything you do is a one way street that just benefits you people will think you are abusing the communities desire for change. Remember, community engagement is a two-way street. By providing value and fostering genuine connections, you'll cultivate a network of loyal supporters who are passionate about your cause. #NonprofitEngagement #CommunityBuilding #Impact #SocialGood #Collaboration #Nonprofit #Nonprofitleader #SocialImpact #SocialJustice #SocialChange #Makeadifference #ChangeAgents #Donate
