Endometriosis, though benign, presents significant challenges. It occurs when endometrial cells, which normally line the uterus, migrate and implant themselves elsewhere in the body. These implants can develop on organs such as the ovaries, vagina, cervix, bowel, bladder, or rectum. In rare cases, endometriosis may even affect distant sites like the lungs, brain, or skin. Despite its prevalence, endometriosis often eludes an accurate diagnosis. Shockingly, 68% of women with endometriosis initially receive a misdiagnosis. Considering that approximately one in ten women aged 15 to 49 are affected by endometriosis during their reproductive years, this misdiagnosis rate underscores the urgency of raising awareness and enhancing diagnostic approaches for this condition. #awareness #educate #information #knowledge
