※POV Summer is almost over. While working from home, that means no more random peek-ins throughout the day (or in the middle of a video call) from one of my three girls to blow me a kiss, or give me a hug, or to pat my head and tell me "You're extra weird but extra special." No more lunchtime quick games of Exploding Kittens or Guess Who. The end of summer also means that with my 16-year-old I'll only have 3 more summers and then she'll be off to college. With my middle kiddo, only 6 more summers. And with the youngest, only 9 more summers. My career is rewarding on many levels. I enjoy the constant challenges and being able to expand my knowledge on many key issues that impact my clients. But nothing beats time at home with the family. And so the purpose of this post is to reflect on life--to reflect on the changes that the end of summer brings--and a reminder to be present. My takeaway: Don't get too caught up in how exhausting (and expensive) summer can be for you as a parent. Think about the things you did during the summer that you'll miss when your kids are gone to college or off on their careers. Reflection. (But then again, the end of summer means college football is just a few weeks away! Go Horns!) #reflection #wfh #career

So, I went back to summer camp. This is a long post, please read it. This isn't something I thought I'd be saying during this break in employment. But I'm so glad that I am. Summer camp can be a magical place many families are fortunate enough to send their kids to each summer. I wish more were able to. It helps children grow life-long friendships. They begin to learn what it will be like to navigate the world outside of their parent's control, safely and securely. And that's my role this summer. I'm helping our summer camp to manage the safety and security apparatus that keeps our most precious resource focused on having a great summer. More than that, summer camp is a great place for young adults in their formative years after highschool and through college build professional skills that will make them high performers in virtually any career path. They learn soft skills that normal businesses don't usually take the time or funds to invest in their employees. Summer camp helps those staff members learn how to manage large groups, plan programs, delegate tasks, keep their teams motivated and (YES!) learn how to keep up with self-care in high-pressure roles. I had let that last specific skill wane in the last 25 years of my career. I needed to get back to camp and reset. I needed to take my career learnings back to a younger generation and regain some of their incredible energy. I can't recommend this move enough to anyone currently taking a career break, whether voluntary or involuntary. If not this summer, maybe consider it in the future. You won't regret it and the people you may need to hire in your next role will be better prepared to lead if you do. And don't forget to look for summer camp experience on applicant's resumes. If they've spent more than one summer in a staff or leadership role at camp, move them to the top of your stack. I'll bet that they will be a huge asset to your company. #recruitment #softskills #leadership #summercamp #personalgrowth

How I solved more than 600+ DSA Questions in JUST 2 MONTHS! Yes, you read that right. It was after I finished my 2nd year of BTech. Here, at IIT Gandhinagar, we get a 3 month summer vacation (May - July) every year. As soon as the summer vacation started, I knew that I only had a couple of months to prepare for the upcoming internship season. Now, when I look back, I feel proud of myself that I was able to put in the grind and eventually with some amount of luck, I was able to crack an on-campus internship offer from D. E. Shaw India Private Limited. We have already entered the second week of May'24, and in many of the engineering colleges, its time for a summer vacation, and obviously, this is the best time to sharpen your skills, and you don't wanna miss out on this opportunity. I have shared all what I did during my summer vacation, and how I was able to solve so many DSA problems. I have shared some tips and tricks which you can use to utilize this summer efficiently. Do check out the video: https://lnkd.in/dhHw9KTa Cheers! #dsa #competitiveprogramming #internship #placement #softwareengineering #summer #summervacation

Summer Break! What does this mean in the education realm? Well it is the end of the school year or coming close to the end. There is a flurry of activities. There are some students frantic to get those grades in to meet requirements for promotion or for graduation. In a typical classroom, the teachers are packing up, administering final examinations, preparing report cards. Overall, there is a community of people- faculty and students waiting to exhale. Students will go off to camp/or enjoy two months of lazy days. Teachers get a chance to practice the essential self care, travel, rest, and rejuvenate. Those last 10 months! Welcome summer break.

🌟 Attention all teachers! ✏️🍎 Ahhh, summertime! If you’re a teacher, just reading or hearing that word can flood you with feelings of relief and respite. And for good reason. Teachers work hard, and the school year can be just as grueling as it is fulfilling. Educators are multidisciplinary professionals doing everything from creating lesson plans and giving classroom instruction to reading and grading hundreds of papers and tests. On top of that, they devise games and presentations, chaperone field trips, lead clubs, and meet with parents. They also continually develop their skills through professional development. With their summer break, teachers have an opportunity to choose with intention whatever activities most restore and fulfill them. Summer can be their chance to explore travel or hobbies they don’t have time for during the school year. They can also use the time to develop their professional skills and qualifications by working toward a degree or achieving a new certification. Or they can get a summer job, whether education-related or not. Most decide to do some combination of these ideas. For best results, plan ahead! Ready to take your summer to another level? Click the link to read more and get the most out of your vacation. Do not miss it! https://hubs.la/Q02CFfvR0 ☀️💼 #TeachersSummerBreak #SummerInspo #SearchalityBlog
