How many of you have thought lymphatics as a vestigial organ? Have you had any idea the swelling in the human body is not only related to arterial or venous related circulatory problems? Have you read about the Starling's equation? The Starling equation is based on the idea that fluid exchange is dependent on a balance between hydrostatic and oncotic pressure gradients. The equation is important for understanding how pathologic processes can alter the variables and impact fluid movement. The human body is just so magical that lifetime isn't sufficient to study about one organ system to the fullest. Today, we had an interesting guest speaker to the G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, Dr. Yoav Dori, MD, PhD, Philadelphia (U.S.A). Who is a consultant Pediatrics Cardiologist. In his excellence he did in-depth research about the Lymphatics system and disorders. His breakthrough in concepts of lymphatic disorder and treatment modalities were eye-opener to all of the audience. One of his concepts explaining the need for in-depth understanding and modifications of Starling's equation felt this novel finding can change the way we treat our patients. He further states, the equation doesn't justify for the blood/lymphatic capillary walls permeability in the equation but talks only about the hydrostatic and oncotic pressures. Similarly, the speaker went and rocked the floor with many studies and experience for 1 hour and kept us very engaged. We hope such learning methodologies, which exists in the countries like USA, UK and Australia to be implemented in India. So we focus more on research and health technology based in India rather than following protocols inspired from American/England guidelines. A fabulous day to start with such inspiring gentleman. #societymeeting #interventionalcardiology #pediatrics #CPD #Morninglecture #lymphaticsdisorder #guestspeaker

https://lnkd.in/gKyn_QUR Article title: Behavioural disorders in children and adolescents: Definition, clinical contexts, neurobiological profiles and clinical treatments Author(s): Giulio Perrotta* and Gianfranco Fabiano Journal: Open Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health Journal ISSN: 2640-7612 Abstract: Starting from the general concept of behaviour disorder, in childhood, preschool and adolescence, in this work the descriptive boundaries of all diagnostic hypotheses are defined, with an orientation for clinical, neurobiological and therapeutic treatment, not leaving out the socio-cultural, educational and family contexts inherent to the growth of the minor. In the last part of the work the reflexive cues are concentrated on the best theories and techniques of approach in the analysed species cases. #BehaviouralDisorders #Children #Adolescents #ClinicalTtreatments #PediatricHospitalistMedicine #DevelopmentalPediatrics #MedicalGenetics #Neonatology #PediatricAllergology #PediatricDermatology #PediatricDiabetes #PediatricRespirology #PediatricIntensiveCare #GeneralPediatrics #TropicalPediatrics #TranslationalPediatrics #PediatricTransplantation #PediatricDrugs #AdolescentMedicine #AllergyAndImmunology #PediatricCardiology #PeertechzPublications #CriticalCareMedicine #DevelopmentalBehavioralMedicine #PediatricEndocrinology #PediatricGastroenterology #PediatricHematologyOncology #PediatricInfectiousDiseases #NeonatalPerinatalMedicine #PediatricNephrology #Peertechz #PediatricNeurology #PediatricEmergencyMedicine #PediatricPulmonology #PediatricRheumatology #PediatricGenetics #PediatricEthics #HealthServiceResearch

Updated data set for the Kaiser Permanente Neonatal Early-Onset Sepsis (EOS) Calculator increases sensitivity from 0.76 to 0.8 Recommended empirical antibiotic use was 3.5% with the original model and 3.7% with the updated model, P < .0001. For each additional case identified by the updated model, an additional 158 infants would be treated with antibiotics. Short of having AI in your unit this updated data set gets us closer in a modern cohort to risk of sepsis. https://lnkd.in/g4QeHcNC #neonatal #nicu #neonatology #pediatrics
