One of the biggest challenges for scientific founders is to balance the roles of CSO and CEO. As a CEO, your main responsibility is to secure funding, build a great team, and enable them to perform at their best. As a CSO, you want to be involved in the scientific direction and innovation of your company. I'm facing this challenge right now, and I realize that I need to focus more on the CEO role if I want to grow the company faster and better. This means letting go of some of the scientific decisions and trusting the people I hired to do them better than me. It's not easy to make this transition, but I think it's necessary for the success of the company.

Was looking for some slides and photos about graphene on silicon carbie when I talked about the emerging technologies on top of emerging semiconductor technologies at todays third lecture in the basic semiconductor training for non experts in Sweden-India skill development programme. The graphene start-up was my first experience in start-up creation. I had experience from a technology transfer to Japan in silicon carbide, shares which I still have and tried to sell some to invest in new ventures. Maybe I am more experienced today than that time, but still things are new now when the world is constantly changing. Same principle then and now is to collaborate and establish team. And believe in yourself.
