Most hospitals are a scam. Had one of the most terrible experiences very recently. 3 days in ICU, no accountability, no communication about diagnosis and prognosis, lakhs of rupees and a whole lot of extra\ incorrect costs at the time of billing. The whole process from admission to bed allotment to bed change to billing to insurance is designed to wear you out emotionally, physically and financially. Just pray you never have to experience staying at a hospital. Opt for a healthier lifestyle and please, please take adequate medical insurance for yourself and your family. #ChooseHealth #GetAMedicalInsurance

As a Canadian pharmacist with training in the United States, I've witnessed firsthand the impact of corporate decisions on patient care. This article epitomizes the challenges we will face in ensuring patient autonomy and access to essential medications if our profession and patients don't speak to their representatives. In this instance, this Waterloo teacher will be faced with the prospect of being saddled with a $1700 per refill if she doesn't switch to a pharmacy dictated by her insurer where the closest physical location is in Mississauga. Despite her medication not requiring "specialized" handling, she is being coerced into changing pharmacies due to the insurer's preference. This not only disregards the patient's established relationship with her neighborhood pharmacy, but also compromises her privacy and convenience in receiving her medication. What's particularly concerning is the erosion of patient choice in healthcare decisions. While physicians and pharmacists are rightly prohibited from steering patients to specific pharmacies, insurers seemingly have free rein to dictate where patients can access their medications. Legislation like Quebec's Bill 92, aimed at empowering patients to make their own healthcare choices, is a beacon of hope. It emphasizes the importance of safeguarding patient rights and ensuring decisions are made with patients' best interests at heart. As a country, we must recognize the dangers of prioritizing corporate convenience over patient care. Collaboration among healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patient advocacy groups is paramount to prevent Canada from following the path of the US healthcare system. Let's work together to uphold patient autonomy and ensure that healthcare decisions are guided by what's best for patients, not corporations. #Patients #Insurance #PPN #Pharmacy #Pharmacists #CanadianHealthcare #PatientRights #PharmacyAdvocacy #HealthcareAdvocacy #PatientAutonomy #HealthcareReform 🍁
OTIP (Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan) now forces patients to switch pharmacies for vital life saving meds meds, compromising choice and privacy. Building new pharmacy infrastructure instead of leveraging current systems doesn't spell cost-saving—it spells inconvenience and a lack of respect for the pharmacy profession and the complexity of care that patients deserve. We must advocate for the patient's right to choose their pharmacy. Even 1% of Patients Matter! Thank you to Spencer Turcotte and CTV News for this important story #PatientRights #HealthcareAdvocacy #PatientChoice Ontario College of Pharmacists Ontario Pharmacists Association Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada Canadian Pharmacists Association Competition Bureau Canada Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) Health | Santé Ministry of Finance

Biologic coordinators play an essential role in the lives of patients who need specialized medication for complex conditions. Their compassion goes beyond paperwork and phone calls—they are the lifeline between patients and the care they deserve. These coordinators tirelessly advocate for individuals, ensuring they navigate through complicated healthcare systems, insurance policies, and treatment plans. Ursurla Banks, a standout in this field, embodies this compassion. Her dedication to her patients is not just about managing their treatment schedules—it's about listening, understanding, and advocating for what each person truly needs. She brings heart and hope into a world that can often seem cold and bureaucratic. With every patient she helps, Ursurla redefines what it means to be a biologic coordinator, making a difference not only in their health but in their everyday lives. She reminds us that, in the end, it's not just about access to medicine—it's about access to care, compassion, and support. #BiologicCoordinators #PatientAdvocacy #CompassionateCare #HealthcareHeroes #SpecialtyMedications #PatientFirst
