How one condo complex installed EV charging for just $405 per parking spot A condo complex in Northern California has installed charging for all of its 90 housing unit with an after-incentive cost of around $405 per unit – solving one of the only real problems with EV charging. Scaling EV charging. And worth pointing out - this is not only lower cost for the property owner but lower cost for the incentive provider Peninsula Clean Energy because of the smarter approach. PCE's incentives are $2k/port incentive instead of $5+k for typical programs.

I like Orange Charger's approach for addressing EV charging challenges in multi-tenant buildings. It's a cost-effective and scalable solution compared to installing large numbers of Level 2 chargers. Check out more details here: https://lnkd.in/gsRYpnNj #evcharging

"For any new unit with a parking space in a multi-family development (apartments/condos), at least one of the parking spots must be “EV Ready.” An EV Ready space is defined as having at least a 240V/20A outlet or charger for EV charging, either with a standardized outlet (NEMA 6-20, 14-30 or 14-50) or a J1772 or J3400 (NACS) charger." https://lnkd.in/efBcrGy9

It never fails that when one is heads-down on a big project, you lose sight of monumental events in the news cycle. "The rules don't just apply to entirely new developments, but to any added parking on an existing development. Any time a parking space is added or altered in a way that requires a building permit, that space must be EV ready." Thank you to Electrek.co for posting this article. It should lower the barrier to entry for those (future) EV drivers that do not have the convenience of dedicated charging like so many other drivers. Being able to achieve residential pricing for electric vehicle charging is fundamentally different than public-facing charging prices. #EV #charginginfrastructure #breakingnews
