Good news: Peninsula Clean Energy is funding 16 local nonprofits to fight climate change with us through our community outreach grant program! These wonderful organizations help us inform and *listen* to our customers... in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Tagalog. Together, we can make climate action accessible to everyone. For example, tonight our staff is partnering with grantee Climate Resilient Communities to co-facilitate a bilingual workshop (English/Spanish) to get community feedback on making our #ebike instant rebate program more accessible to all residents. That's putting the community in Community Choice Energy. Huge kudos to Vanessa Shin for managing this project! #climatejustice #environmentaljustice #energyequity

WEBINAR: Scaling Solar in Low-Income Communities with the Inflation Reduction Act. Following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, tax-exempt entities now have a compelling opportunity to accelerate the adoption of solar energy technology in low-income communities by taking on the role of a third-party owner. This webinar provides a soon-to-be-released primer on this model for interested tax-exempt entities, including Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), green banks, electric cooperatives, nonprofit organizations, and others. Thermal Energy Networks ramp-up coming soon: US Dept of Energy will publish “Pathways to Commercial Liftoff” report on utility- and community-scale geothermal networks in the next few weeks, says Alexis McKittrick, program manager at DOE’s Geothermal Technologies Office. ⚡ “These systems are out there now, they are scalable, and they can be adapted to different geographies, different communities,” McKittrick said. “[They] can be configured for whatever your building mix and scale looks like.” #TENs #Geothermal
“We want to show people as quickly as possible that this is pretty much an ‘anywhere’ technology … that makes sense where the gas system makes sense,” said Zeyneb Magavi, executive director of HEET, a nonprofit involved with the Framingham project. #NetworkedGeothermal #CleanEnergy on the rise https://lnkd.in/euTqi2M8

✅ The Pew Charitable Trusts has begun an initiative with the goal of pushing the envelope of grid modernization and quickening the deployment of clean energy across the U.S. ✅ The initiative is working on creating a roadmap for increasing the growth of Distributed Energy Resources in America. ✅ The use of DERs, such as solar power, provides communities with environmental benefits and cost efficiency. Immerse yourself in the dynamics of the new initiative driving the United States' shift towards Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), brought to you by The Pew Charitable Trusts. This plan counts on the roadmap they plan to construct for the acceleration of DERs growth in the U.S., bringing together industry and regulation experts, community organizations, and utility representatives. Together, they aim to guide policymakers and provide communities with the necessary resources for greener choices. The power of this initiative is demonstrated with real-life examples in California and North Carolina, where solar-plus-storage microgrids have provided significantly reduced outage hours and powered essential devices in crisis-hit areas. In conclusion, the obvious value of solar power within microgrids puts these DERs at an essential spot for our future energy needs, contributing to the revolution of energy manufacturing and democratisation.
