During September and October, Peninsula Bridge is teaming up with Loop Neighborhood Market and AU Energy for The Giving Pump at Shell USA (Shell) to drive positive change in the Bay Area by giving back. From September 1st through October 31st, a portion of the purchases at designated pumps at participating Shell stations across the Bay Area will benefit Peninsula Bridge. The Giving Pump will be specially marked with purple signage at participating Shell gas stations to inspire consumers to support Peninsula Bridge when purchasing fuel. With no additional cost when filling up, it’s easy to participate in the program. You can find a participating station by visiting shell.us/givingpump. We are incredibly grateful for this new partnership with Loop Neighborhood Market, AU Energy and The Giving Pump at Shell USA. #GivingPump #ShellStationsUS Shell

Battery storage systems such as Bramley have a key role to play in scaling up renewables in the power system and delivering secure and sustainable energy, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), but deployment needs to scale up significantly between now and the end of the decade. The Bramley system is one of the most sophisticated longer-duration assets under construction in the UK and will provide Shell Energy Europe with unmatched capabilities for portfolio optimisation. Tolls have been a feature of conventional energy trading for many years. By extending the business model to battery storage, Shell has the trading experience to add significant value, while supporting the UK’s ongoing energy transition. The experience gained through these early tolling contracts will be invaluable to the wider market.
Watch progress unfold on our 330MWh Bramley project in Hampshire, UK 🇬🇧🔋 BW ESS visited Bramley with our partners Shell Energy, Penso Power Limited, and Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd., hosted by Ethical Power. It was an opportunity to come together to learn how one of the most advanced long-duration batteries will power the landmark 7-year tolling agreement with Shell 🤝 Expected to be ready in Q4 2024, Bramley’s capacity can meet the average daily power needs of 44,000 UK homes 🏠. This is roughly a quarter of the homes in nearby Basingstoke town. Here’s to unlocking the value of energy storage and supporting the UK's energy transition! #BWESS #BESS #ESS #batterystorage #energystorage #energytransition #cleanenergy

ERCOT called for Texans to conserve electricity during the recent freeze and it seemed to have worked as Texans used 13% less electricity than ERCOT expected Monday morning and 10% less during Tuesday’s AM hours. The demand side of the energy equation can be quite powerful. Rather than spending vast amounts of money on new supply, we can focus on demand response programs and energy efficiency efforts (improving insulation, sealing gaps in leaky homes, replacing old and inefficient furnaces). https://lnkd.in/gzEBVzii Don't forget about The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE)'s recent study that found new TX power plants would cost far more than simply cutting #energy waste from existing buildings. https://lnkd.in/gAZWPe7Q

The Mystic Generating Station, a longtime workhorse for New England, shut its doors for good May 31. The closure meant the nearby Everett LNG terminal that provided natural gas to Mystic might also be history, but new contracts will keep it open for at least six more years. In today’s RBN blog, we’ll discuss the combined impact of Mystic’s demise and Everett’s stay of execution, how the six-state region has handled this summer’s heat wave, and what could be in store for next winter. https://lnkd.in/gUzJ2i4A

Last month, BCSE member Calpine was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to enter into a cost-sharing agreement to build a commercial-scale #carboncapture project that will capture and store 1.75 million metric tons of CO2 each year. This project will help decarbonize California's #energy supply and supports BCSE member SMUD's 2030 Zero Carbon Plan, with a goal of zero emissions in its power supply by 2030. “Calpine has long been a leader in California’s power generation market, having responded to the state’s need for new power generation in the early 2000s,” said Alex Makler, Senior Vice President, West Region of Calpine Corporation. “This project, along with Calpine’s recent battery storage projects and its longstanding #geothermal power production, reaffirms that leadership as California continues to meet its commitment to a zero-carbon future.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dPpTn3ev
