Let's expand the discussion beyond college and include community college and vocational programs. Let's use the term post-secondary education! And, we HAVE to show students the ROI of the choices they make. I wonder how many Houston ISD students know that if they go to Houston Community College and pursue a Cosmetology program they are likely to be $100,000 WORSE off than if they had never even enrolled at Houston Community College! It's our job to just be VERY transparent with students, and frankly, we are not doing that. https://lnkd.in/gkBdtwBK

President @ Concordia University, Nebraska | Applied Researcher in Education Innovation, Futures & Forecasting, & Trend Analysis
Following is a rough draft representation of college enrollment out of high school from 1954 to 2024. The blue line represents the % of high school graduates going to college. The red line represents the raw number of high school graduates going to college. These reflect full-time and part-time enrollment, residential and non-residential. What do you predict this will look like if we could expand the chart to 2034? What do you think it should like like if we expanded it to 2034? What do you predict this will (or should) look like if we change it from “college” to “higher education”?
