I would encourage individuals, governments and corporate Australia to attend this historic conference. Domestic violence is not only physical or coercive abuse, it's takes shape in other forms which employers need to be aware of to understand and support the safety of their employees. The conference will have interesting discussion celebrating 70 years of Elsie and the evolution of violence in the fast paced world. We can change the dialogue to end violence through our collective action.

Tomorrow marks an important moment: Canadian Blood Services will be making a public apology. In 2022, CBS made a significant shift by abandoning the 3-month donor deferral period for men who have sex with men, choosing instead to evaluate all potential donors based on higher-risk sexual behaviours, irrespective of their gender or sexuality. Though this policy change was a step forward, it couldn’t undo the decades of discrimination faced by the gay, bi, queer, Two-Spirit, and trans people, along with the broader 2SLGBTQIA+ community. A public apology is crucial in acknowledging past wrongs and moving towards genuine inclusivity and respect within our healthcare services. Rather than address structural violence, Canadian bioethicists say we should allow those disadvantaged and adversely impacted by structural violence to be killed. After George Floyd the world learned about American racism and structural violence related deaths in police custody. Canada has taken supremacist killing a step farther to make it ethically acceptable to kill oppressed populations under the guise of compassionate care. In 2023, Canada killed over 16,000 of its own citizens by euthanasia. Of these approximately one third were human beings with no legitimate medical need for euthanasia. These people were killed solely for lack of meaningful access to medical care, disability supports and housing. In other words they were dehumanized and died of ableism and eugenics driven structural violence. Perhaps more disturbingly, keeping in mind Canada’s support for genocide in Gaza, the continuing cultural genocide of Canada’s indigenous people, the recent Nazi debacle in parliament and ongoing issues with sheltering WWII Nazis and Nazi collaborators are the parallels between Canada’s non-terminal disability euthanasia program (stream 2 and 3 MAiD) and Nazi Germany’s Aktion T4. For those who don’t know, Aktion T4 was a campaign of eugenic cleansing of those with disabilities or mental illness by euthanasia in Nazi Germany. This program was presented as compassionate care to ease the population into mass extermination beginning two years before the mass murder of Jews in death camps commenced. Sadly Canada is an ableist nation with more than a hint of eugenic supremacy. This is not acceptable and must be stopped. I am a disabled Canadian and I am a human being with thoughts, feelings and advanced skills capable of making meaningful contributions to Canadian society. I worked hard when I could and made significant contributions to my community and want to live without having to choose between the horrible suffering of deprivation and barriers to further participation (structural violence) OR death. To be clear one cannot volunteer to be euthanized under this kind of extreme duress so calling it a voluntary program to shift responsibility is ridiculous. Whether by a soldiers gun, deprivation of the necessities of life or a doctors needle mass murder is mass murder. Trudeau and Freeland are no different than Netanyahu. In Solidarity ❤️🩹🪶🍉
