Last night I spoke to one of my favorite groups- a Drivers Ed Class. I shared the story of my 2018 accident that was caused by a distracted driver. I showed photos of the crash scene and shared the year-long experience of recovery and the long-term ramifications I will always have. The lesson - wear your seat belt and put your phone away when you are driving. Distracted driving changes lives - and not in a good way. The National Safety Council promotes April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Did you know that in addition to visual distractions, you need to recognize manual distractions too? Eating, drinking coffee or anything that takes your hands off the wheel causes hashtag#distracteddriving. Let’s all make sure to hashtag#JustDrive this month and beyond. Distracted driving is an issue. Okay don't take my word than, look at the statistics. Distracted driving claimed 3,308 lives in 2022. Texting while driving takes your eyes off the road for about 5 seconds, which at 55 mph is like driving the length of a football field. 290,000 people were injured in crashes involving distracted drivers in 2022. Drivers aged 25-34 were responsible for the highest percentage of distracted drivers involved in fatal crashes. Using your phone while driving not only endangers your life but also the lives of others on the road. I ask to stay focused and avoid distractions to ensure everyone's safety. #DriveSafe #StayFocused #NoTextingWhileDriving #RoadSafety #DistractedDriving #SafetyFirst #SaveLives #StayAlert #PublicSafety #safety #safetytips #statistics

🚨 Did you know... 🚨 Around 80% of UK road traffic collisions and 65% of near misses had some kind of inattention or distraction as a contributing factor. It would seem that as cars get safer, quieter and more tech-laden, we're concentrating less and less on what's really important: our driving and other road users. April is 'Distracted Driving Awareness Month' in the US (link below) and the UK is investing heavily in AI-driven cameras which aim to catch drivers WhatsApping their mates while cruising down the M1. All good, important stuff. But we believe raising awareness and penalising offenders will only achieve part of the solution. The top of this particular road safety triangle is providing REWARDS for safer, more mindful driving. This is what's really going to change behaviours. Which is where we come in...👏🏽💡 Our gamified app enables safe drivers to collect XP with every trip, to be redeemed against rewards on over 150 big name brands. Plus, drivers can compare their scores with mates, family and work colleagues, as well as take quizzes to help them reduce their own risk events on the road (and earn even more XP.) And in case you were wondering, the app runs in the background of your phone while you're driving and only lets you review your trip data and rewards after your journey. Smart and safe, in other words. Our dedicated UK-based team is looking for socially conscious partners like YOU to join us on this important journey. We'd love to connect for a chat over Zoom or face-to-face. Let's improve the UK's road safety together.
