Congratulations to Penn State Shenango Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator Brandi Baros, who's Lab Safety Week micro-learning videos earned the Marketing Single Media Award from the Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA). Baros partnered with Shenango's Laboratory Attendant Kayla Aldan, the Strategic Communications office, as well as Teaching Professor of Science Kathy Shaffer and her students, and showcased the state-of-the-art Forker Laboratory facilities as part of the award winning campaign. Our 3-day Foundation Level Restorative Conference Facilitator’s course is for colleagues with some knowledge of restorative practices wanting to take their skills to the next level and to enable a referral system of support to be created in their school or workplace. Ensuring all staff are able to facilitate ‘restorative conversations’ or ‘corridor conferences’ is essential to the creation of a whole school restorative culture, (see our whole school Introduction to RP for more information). Whole school training equips everyone with the skills to ensure low-level incidents are resolved quickly at a classroom/playground level. However not all incidents can be resolved with a quick ‘on the spot’ restorative conversation. Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB) is offering its Communications, Media and Spokesperson training April 23-24 in Lawrence. This training will provide attendees the skills necessary to use stories, statistics and key messages to make messages stand out and connect with relevant audiences. "Participating in Communication, Media and Spokesperson training has given me the tools to feel comfortable in speaking on issues that are pertinent to agriculture," Ashley Beying, a past participant of CMS, says. "I have been able to utilize the knowledge from this training by telling my story to legislators and other leaders in the industry. Kansas Farm Bureau has once again shown their commitment to their members by providing this highly beneficial training."
