As the golden hues of #Thanksgiving dawn upon us, it's a timely reminder of gratitude and reflection. 🍂 In the intricate realm of Medical Science Liaison work, the guiding principles of dedication, resilience, and integrity have been paramount. Navigating the vast medical landscape has its complexities, but just like the spirit of Thanksgiving, it's all about coming together and finding solutions that serve a larger purpose. Thanksgiving is more than just a celebration; it's an embodiment of unity, perseverance, and the essence of giving back. Much like our endeavors in the medical field, where every challenge faced and milestone achieved is a step towards better patient outcomes and fostering genuine, unbiased communication. Let's take a moment to acknowledge our professional journey, the values we uphold, and the bridges we build. Wishing everyone a #HappyThanksgiving, filled with insights, connections, and the promise of continuous learning. Here's to always striving for excellence and embracing the transformative power of gratitude. 🦃🍁 #MedicalAffairs #Gratitude #ContinuousLearning

I am on a mission this year to walk 1000 miles, this means that most days I am to walk 3-4 miles. I try to vary my walks and living in south Wales means that there is plenty of scope. Last Sunday I walked part way around the Usk Resevoir near Llandovery. I like to take a few photos if the view makes me smile. Even thoug( it was a dull day, I loved the way this tee silhouetted against the sky and the water. Looking at the photo later ( awake at 3am because I can’t sleep) made me reflect on governance. Woah, that’s some reflection I hear you say, let me explain. This tree may look bare but what you see is the most important part of the tree, you see the trunk and the branches. Without these, the tree has no structure, nothing for the leaves and fruit to grow on, There is an analogy here, that’s with governance, governance is the trunk upon which the branches of quality are supported, upon which the leaves of great care grow and the fruit of great outcomes ripen. Those great outcomes go on to give life to new outcomes and the cycle repeats. But so many care providers don’t build their service on robust governance focussing on the fruits. Without governance, you will have no fruit. Anyway enough of this crazy middle-of-the-night rambling and back to reality. If you are a care provider you must focus on your governance structure, this includes, accountability, responsibilities, system, processes, audits, and continuous improvement amongst other things. If you need help please get in touch, I can deliver workshop for your team on governance or I can help you review and improve your current system. But, I don’t have much availability, in fact, I only have 2 dates in Feb, 1 in March, and a couple in April available. May onwards has more availability at present.

Vice President of Sales and Marketing | Healthcare leader committed to changing the face of healthcare, one patient at a time
Single as a pringle! So celebrating any anniversary I can! 🤣 In all seriousness, this is an anniversary worth celebrating. A year ago, I found a place that I fit into professionally within an organization I will champion for as long as I am able! Find you a job that: 1. Listens to and supports you 2. Wants to hear even your worst ideas 3. Makes sure you know you are valued as an employee 4. Will support your personal growth goals 5. Will invest in your professional development, knowing that it could mean that investment could move on to another organization someday 6. Values your input 7. Demands exceptional quality not only from you, but also themselves (rare!) 8. Cares about the realities of life separate from the business 9. Takes genuine interest in what you bring to the table 10. Cares less about the bottom line than they do the person-level impact they are making as a whole We all have had good jobs, great jobs, bad jobs and horrible jobs. Without question I can say joining A-S Medication Solutions was the greatest thing I ever could've done. My professional heart's desire is to make a lasting difference in at least one patient's life. With ASM, mission already accomplished. And the future is full of opportunities to do it over and over and over again. Care about what you do. Care about who you do it with. And be a part of an organization that allows you to care about why you do it. Striving to deliver: Better access resulting in better adherence which leads to an overall better patient experience. -- ASM #betteroutcomes #betterhealth #patientexperience

The 6th January marked my 4 year anniversary of joining the health board. It has made me do a lot of thinking and reflection. When I left the NHS in 2015 I swore I would never return. I was working in an organisation whose values were aligned to mine, but where the values were not delivered on. The lived experience was different to the promise. I saw bad behaviours which were ignored, I saw and experienced bullying regularly. The service delivery was good, the staff and service leaders committed. But this was not the culture overall. When I left I was broken and stripped of my self confidence, sense of ability and worth. It was a big step to return back to the NHS after that. I had kept in touch with many colleagues and knew it was still a difficult landscape and place to be. But I took that risk and it has been quite the ride. I joined an organisation in special measures and with lots of issues. Then there was a global pandemic that affected us all in ways we could never have imagined. In my time I have seen similar behaviours as in the past and I have struggled with the lived values vs the written values. The culture hasn’t always been as it should. But I am in an organisation that is striving to change. There are improvements in performance and there are steps to change the culture. Changes that will make this an organisation that values and develops its staff. There is still a long way to go but every journey starts with a single step and we have taken several steps. There are many challenges ahead. Both as an organisation and personally. There are lots of things happening in my service. Some in my control. Some not. Some challenging behaviours. But lots of progress and lots of space for growth. I look forward to seeing where the next year takes me and what challenges are overcome.

Hope at the end of the Tunnel! I was given the chance to speak before a group of students about end-of-life care. = I remembered feeling a sense of blur in the crowd. In a cold auditorium, with the spotlight up in the stage; = I could only see empty eyes staring right back to me. Probably, most of them are expecting an emotional and gloomy talk, it would be inappropriate to speak of death and dying in a joyful manner. = Whether we are in denial of it, one thing is certain, we are hundred percent guaranteed that we are all going to die. = As healthcare providers we seem to have forgotten the natural cycle of life. = Life is beautiful and should be celebrated. = By celebrating life, we give it the beautiful ending it deserves. = Life has a different meaning, but the culmination of one's life is usually based on the achievement of what we have hoped for while being alive. ------------ What is thought about life and death in general, share your thoughts, let's talk let's go!!!!
