To me, the poetry inscribed along the Punggol Park Connector captures the charm of Singapore’s Arts scene – it may not be as robust as Vienna or New York, but it blends our Asian heritage and Western influences, and finds ways to intersect with the lives of Singaporeans.
When researching on Our SG Arts Plan (2023-2027) for MAJU: The Youth Policy Research Initiative, it struck me as forward-looking, people-centric and ambitious. Forward-looking, because it taps on data insights and technology. People-centric, because it brings the Arts to everyday spaces and helps artists build sustainable careers. Lastly, ambitious because it envisions an Arts scene that unites all Singaporeans and even goes beyond our shores.
