Businesses with Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) have a great opportunity to improve their fleet age, cost, and uptime right now. That’s the view of Radius Vehicle Solutions Managing Director, Gareth Jones. Speaking to his team at a recent briefing session, Gareth outlined the importance of consultative fleet dialogue with customers and prospects and emphasised that it has never been so valuable. “We are seeing massive shifts in residual values as new vehicle prices start to reduce and new stock availability is starting to ease. Businesses that haven't updated their fleets yet are starting to think about it, and this is greatly affecting the value and volume of used vehicles. While it might seem easy to benefit from the lower market prices, it can sometimes end up costing your business more in the long run. There are three things that make the difference in my view. Firstly, it's crucial to pick the right vehicle for your business. Don't just choose the cheapest option. Select a robust product that can withstand the demands of your industry. Secondly, ensure that the service package you're committing to matches your expectations. In our business, we consistently discuss costs and services with potential clients. Sometimes, it means getting basic maintenance from a main dealer, but without any replacement vehicle options. While this might be okay for fleets with fewer than 10,000 miles per year, it won't suffice for business fleets covering 25,000-50,000 miles annually. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, choose the right service partner. Look for someone who will not only offer competitive prices but will also support you from the moment your vehicle hits the road. I always say that our job truly begins when the vehicle leaves our premises. It's about keeping your fleet operational, minimising downtime, and swiftly addressing any issues that arise. This is where the real savings happen. While fleets can capitalise on the emerging opportunities in the market with favourable pricing, it's also essential to reassess your strategy and approach. The world may have evolved since your last fleet update, so it's crucial to adapt strategy and outlook accordingly."

Represents Mitchell1 | Expert in Fleet, Light & Heavy Duty Repair Repair Information | Auto Repair Shop Management Software & Marketing Tools Specialist
𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: Variety of Models. Fleets might have different types of trucks. Each one could need its own set of repair guides. 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Top problems that fleets face when looking for repair information of their trucks. Fleets might have different types of trucks, each with unique specifications and operational needs. It can be a substantial challenge to manage such diversity as every truck could require its own set of repair guides tailored to its specific design and function. Managing a fleet of vehicles, especially when it involves an array of different types of trucks, each with their unique make, model, and year, is no small feat. This diversity, while often necessary to fulfill various operational needs, introduces a level of complexity that can be daunting even for seasoned fleet managers. Each truck comes with its own specifications, quirks, and requirements, making it essential to have access to a wide range of repair guides, maintenance schedules, and operational manuals, all tailored to the specific design and function of the individual vehicle. The challenge here lies not only in acquiring the appropriate documentation for each truck but also in ensuring that this information is easily accessible and up-to-date. The need for precision in managing such varied assets is critical because the absence of proper guidelines could lead to ineffective repairs, increased downtime, and potentially higher costs due to unforeseen breakdowns or incorrect maintenance procedures conducted on these specialized vehicles. Exploring the ins and outs of transporting vehicles? There's a popular method called traditional car transport, where vehicles are loaded onto dedicated car carriers. 🚗💨 Strengths of this method? It reliably gets vehicles from point A to B with specialized equipment, minimizing damage during transit. Plus, it’s usually the go-to for manufacturers since it's well-established. However, this method has a few downsides—like a capacity squeeze that can cause delays and increased costs, especially when dealing with heavier vehicles or changes in market demand. 📉 On the other side, we have convertible trailers, which can switch from car carriers to flatbeds. This offers flexibility and can reduce empty runs by allowing haulers to transport other types of freight. 🚛✨ The benefits of convertible trailers are clear—they maximize the utility of the equipment and can provide carriers with additional revenue streams. Yet, they come with challenges too, such as the learning curve of new processes and the need for specialized training. So, what’s the best way forward? Combining both methods might just be the ticket! By using traditional car transport for bulk moves and convertible trailers for mixed loads, you can optimize capacity while minimizing the risk of delays and damage. Feeling a bit stuck on how to balance these approaches? Here are some tips: 1. Stay informed about market trends to adjust your fleet usage accordingly. 2. Invest in training for your team so they feel comfortable handling various types of freight. 3. Monitor load factors to tweak your operations as needed for efficiency. Mixing it up might lead to smoother operations! 🌟
