In the world of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), using evidence-based practices (EBP) is super important for helping people with communication and swallowing issues. SLPs mix the latest research with their know-how to make sure their assessments and therapies are rooted in proven methods. EBP not only makes interventions work better but also builds trust with clients and families, being open and accountable. It lets SLPs customize interventions for each person, making outcomes even better. Plus, embracing EBP keeps SLPs learning and growing in their careers. When SLPs use evidence-based practices, it just makes the care in Speech-Language Pathology even better, making life easier for those dealing with speech, language, and swallowing challenges. Keep moving 🙏🏻

Curious about the latest buzz in the SLP community? Check out my latest blog post for Lighthouse Therapy on why therapists are becoming increasingly frustrated with ASHA. #speechlanguagepathology #speechtherapist
In 2024, the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) made some changes that SLPs don’t seem to be happy with. The speech-language pathologist community wants to feel fairly represented in those decisions. We’ve taken a look at some of the things they’ve mentioned and created a list to give a clear idea of why so many SLPs are feeling so discontent. #speechlanguagepathology #speechtherapy

Have you ever wondered why I decided to become a speech-language pathologist? Well, let me tell you, it wasn't some emotional story that led me down this path. In fact, I wasn't the brightest kid in the class, and getting into medical college seemed like a far-fetched dream. I tried biomedical science to get into med school, but that didn't work out either. Then, I stumbled upon speech-language pathology, and I instantly fell in love with the scope of it! I dig it when people go, "Hey, are you the SLP?" Being a male in the game isn't the norm, but I love proving I'm just as qualified and competent to rock this practice! Why, you ask? Well, I've been talking a little fast (not little) since childhood, and people used to laugh at me for it. They would often say, "It's okay, take your time, we aren't going anywhere" or "Say it again." I didn't know what to do and where to go! Have you ever come across adults who suddenly lose the ability to speak due to a stroke, but were unable to receive any help because of the lack of awareness? Or have you seen kids with special needs being left out and not receiving the attention they need because of the same reason? It's sad to see that a lack of awareness can have such a significant impact on people's lives. I've seen it! Then I knew I had chosen the right path and that it was not a mistake. Now, I'm on a mission to help as many people as I can. We often take speaking ability for granted because we never had to work for it. But imagine losing it suddenly? Speech, voice, anything? It's a scary thought! But don't worry, I'm here to help. Whether you're struggling with a stutter, need help with your voice, or have any other speech-related issue, I'm here to assist you. So, let's work together to make sure you can communicate with confidence and ease! #BreakingNorms #SpeechTherapy #SLP

🌏 Bridging Gaps in Speech Pathology: A Step Towards Global Impact 🌍 Recently, I had the privilege of meeting with our upcoming batches of aspiring Speech Pathologists from India, discussing the process and requirements for obtaining a CPSP label in Australia. It was eye-opening to realize how limited information on such crucial certifications reaches different parts of the world. In our conversation, it became evident that many talented professionals outside major hubs often miss out on global platforms to enhance their skills and learn from leaders in the field of Speech-Language Pathology. This disparity not only limits opportunities but also stunts the growth potential of our field on a global scale. Our initiative aims to change that narrative. By facilitating access to CPSP certifications and opening doors to international best practices, we empower passionate individuals who are eager to elevate their expertise and make a difference in therapeutic practices worldwide. Together, we can bridge these knowledge gaps and foster a community where every Speech Pathologist, regardless of location, has the chance to thrive professionally and contribute to the advancement of global therapies. Let's make a collective impact and pave the way for a brighter future in Speech-Language Pathology! #SpeechPathology #GlobalTherapies #ProfessionalDevelopment #SLPLeadership #GlobalImpact #THHTC #HelpingHands #SLPLicense
