#RESPECT - I still remember that THANK YOU note!
After my second deployment - we were back in Mississippi - in the process of HOMEPORT training.
A young sailor - U.S. NAVY SeaBee - had arrived and was succeeding nicely at his new duty station in San Diego. He thanked me for mentoring him during his time under my command at the SeaBee battalion.
For anyone (including myself), the journey to gain Qualification is tremendously complex and challenging.
I was proud that he had achieved his SeaBee Combat Warfare Specialist qualification.
Essential skills qualification continues to be a fundamental process in the #SERVICE today whether Armed Forces, Law Enforcement, First Responders, etc.
Everyone feels the pressure (including their spouses who #SACRIFICE in so many ways).
From the time a new troop arrives at their command, they are expected to study hard, listen and learn from near-peer leaders, and eventually demonstrate their knowledge and skills required to obtain qualification in their specified warfare or occupational field.
The stragglers who fail to obtain qualification eventually find difficulty advancing their careers.
Those who gain qualification also gain #RESPECT.
Those qualified continue their education by teaching others, the cycle continues…
The daily discipline, peer pressure, leadership tenacity, and mission expectations drive each individual towards gaining these essential qualifications.
Here’s to the culture of gaining essential skills which enhance the #SAFETY and #SUSTAINABILITY of all involved.
Civilian companies that recognize the value of those coming from a #SERVICE background can gain tremendous advantages for their teams and customers when they nurture a similar #CULTURE.
It’s not about ME. It’s about WE.
#STRENGTH - Faith Beyond Yourself
My Career Life. Borne of #SERVICE.
Be #TheEagle. Employ The Eagle.
