🌍 Advancing Justice Reform in the Republic of Moldova: Capacity Building in Action! ⚖️✨ On 19 – 20 September, the #OECD organised two capacity building workshops in #Chișinău, #Moldova, as part of the dedicated OECD project on “Supporting the Ministry of Justice and Justice Sector Reforms in the Republic of Moldova”. Supported by the European Union, this project aims to assist Moldova in advancing justice sector reforms. The workshops, focused on improving the transparency and efficiency of the justice sector in Moldova, were organised in close cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova with the additional participation of peers and international experts from Australia, the Netherlands, Portugal, and the UK. The first workshop on "People-centred Approaches to Justice" aimed at placing citizens' needs and expectations at the heart of reform design, covering: 🔶 Establishing a people-centred culture within the justice system, with a special focus on addressing the needs of children. 🔶 Evidence-based strategies to better understand citizens’ legal and justice needs. 🔶 Developing the skills and capabilities required by justice professionals to build a governance model based on OECD principles. 🔶 Reimagining justice service design and delivery in Moldova through "journey mapping," addressing procedural bottlenecks and accessibility challenges. The second workshop centred on ex ante and ex post policy-evaluation, equipping participants with tools to assess the impact of justice reform. It covered: 🔷 Key concepts and frameworks for evaluating public policies. 🔷 Reflecting on past reforms to feed into new approaches. 🔷 Identifying causal chains and key questions that an evaluation framework for the justice sector strategy should address. Over the course of these two days, experts and officials were able to share policy advice with each other based on their diverse professional backgrounds. Many thanks to all participants who made the discussions rich and impactful! 🙌 We are excited to continue our support on Moldova's journey toward a more people-centred justice system!
