As Muhammad Ali said, “it’s not bragging if you can back it up”
Lisa Bragg (Yes Bragg is her surname) says,
“When done right, it can drive equity, creativity, productivity, and economic potential—for individuals, for the places they work, and for society as a whole.
Bragging doesn’t have to be the domain of the know-it-alls, the over-promisers, and the egomaniacs. It should be the right of the competent, the accomplished, and the brave. When done with clarity and purpose, bragging explains who you are, what you’ve done, and what you’re capable of doing.
A good brag is a service to your audience: it reduces ambiguity and builds trust. It is a beautifully direct antidote to the distractions and obfuscations of modern office culture. It is a signal that cuts through the noise”
Shout out to Pranjali Pathak for the brilliant prompt and encouraging us to brag at work yesterday and here is me bragging it for the year! (My first brag as a brag, so I am still a WIP, but I'm bragging it, anyway :D)
By the way, I also did another ‘Dragging it’ poster describing my top 3 failures in 2023 (Who said bragging is all about achievements?)

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Pi Jam Foundation and those who encouraged and supported me to achieve these milestones and serve my best, without which it would be far-fetched.

We're closing out a sunny Summer Friday here at Relias after Debby Downer crashed through the state yesterday. At Relias, we celebrate Summer Fridays with half day Fridays for 7 weeks to allow our teams some much-deserved time to recharge and enjoy the summer as they choose. I spent mine today nerding out on research and annoying my colleagues with newly found data. Speaking of celebration, please join me in honoring a new round of Customer Obsession winners who go the extra mile to do what's right for our customers and our teams: Sarah Shotton, Stephanie Roberson, Patty S., and Dillon Rudio (MBA). We also closed the quarter with a new round of Quarterly Value Award Winners for those team members who embody our Relias values. Join me in celebrating: Daniel "Buddy" Martinez III (Data-Driven Decision-Making), Nat Marin Acevedo (Passion for the Mission), Annie Neese (Get Stuff Done), Melissa Dreisewerd (Thirst for Learning), and Christopher Reiling (Healthy Debate).
I also had the joy of spending time with our department managers, as we do each month, on a unique leadership competency. Trust me, spending time together each month to grow our leadership skills is time well spent. We focused this month on Active Listening, because being fully present in the conversation with your teams isn't easy...the world is full of distractions. Closing this post how we closed our session this week with a reminder on what not to do 😉 Happy Summer Friday everyone!

What makes a company truly great to work with? Is it just about skills and results—or could it be something more?
Let me challenge your thinking: Look for a team that genuinely enjoys working together, that knows how to work hard and have fun. At Blue Compass, we believe in that balance. Every year, we break into smaller teams to compete, collaborate, and just have fun together during our Blue Circle Games—an afternoon filled with food, drinks, and activities that test our problem-solving, teamwork, and even our competitive edge.
Last Friday’s event was no exception. I had the honor of inviting some friends and old colleagues to help out, and they all walked away with the same impression: our team is connected, collaborative, and truly enjoys one another’s company. It's something you can feel, whether it’s in a game or at work.
Great weather, great competition, great teamwork—and most of all, great relationships. When choosing a partner or vendor, don’t overlook the value of a team that loves working together. That’s what makes a company stand out.
What do you value most in a team you partner with?

I attended a brilliant Enterprise Nation networking event yesterday; a massive shout out to Dan Martin for organising in person events and St George's Bristol for hosting - I know there are so many benefits to the digital world, but I still really love being able to meet and connect with people face to face!
It was so nice to see some familiar faces and meet some new people; it was amazing to see the huge range of businesses just in one room and so inspiring to hear people speak so passionately about them. (*Slap on the wrist* - must not start another business.....yet 😇 )
We also talked a lot about the challenges people are facing, from burn out to future plans to the struggles following COVID. Business is rarely all sunshine and rainbows, and I think it is great for everyone to feel like they're not alone and share ideas on how they cope with things.
This seems like the perfect time to say that Bristol City Council and West of England Growth Hub has a huge variety of support available for SME's; from mentoring and coaching to grants for R&D, help with exporting to support with your marketing plan! Whatever challenge you are facing, get in touch to find out more about what we can offer. 👐

5 BIG THINGS I learned this week:
(1) Workshops are critical to any insights toolkit. I didn't always believe this, but now find them an essential part of any collaboration. No one does them better than our Tumble team of Brian St. Onge, Allison Herholtz, Luke Miltner, and Chris Hargett. The planning, the artifacts, the activities -- all force us to stretch our brains and think about the challenges our client is facing and how we can solve for those problems through experiences, innovations.
(2) In fact, much of this team -- plus Daniel Conners and Bridget Maloney --
was in Memphis to help our client in this very way. It's not often that my KS&R team members make it to Memphis, so it was very special to have the team over for dinner. Sometimes it's just fun to hang out and get to know each other better, but nobody is going to get to see my home office again 😉
(3) I can do in-depth interviews, and do them well 🤣 I've repeated that in my head many times this week as I successfully finished 7 IDIs (3 more on tap for next week). The last one was tough. Friday afternoon before a long weekend. I felt like I had to use my "Dad" voice to get him to engage and pay attention. He was very smart and knowledgeable; I just needed him to focus. He got there by the end.
(4) The end of May means there's much work to be done as a key client's fiscal year comes to an end. This last week is going to be crazy, but we're all ready for it 😎
(5) Lastly, Memorial Day is special. Don't forget to take a moment to remember, mourn and honor those who have served in our armed forces.
Onward to another great week.
Better understanding. Better decisions. That's KS&R.
I have a great idea.
Reduce EQT executive compensation and increase every other employee’s compensation while still saving overall payroll costs.
Employee compensation is spent at local retail establishments and professional services which is awesome for our economy.
Less overall compensation costs equals more earnings to send to the owners of the company via dividends.
CEO Rice, it’s a great idea. You can reach out to me and I can help.
Imagine the great publicity from such a move.
And you are most welcome.
For your edification, surrounding yourself with a bunch of yes minions will keep your share price dropping.
An original idea isn’t possible in that environment. Maybe you need someone to challenge you.
No maybe, your ego needs someone to challenge you.
Reduce executive compensation.
Pay the American worker and the shareholders.
That plays in Peoria dude.
