📚🩺Academic physicians play a vital role in our healthcare system. Here we're pointing out the most important financial factors to consider in this role. KEY TAKEAWAYS: ➡️ Use the Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program to eliminate your student loans after 10 years (120 payments). ➡️ Maximize your employer retirement programs (403b & 457b), which in turn can lower your taxable income with pre-tax contributions. ➡️ Many large universities are able to offer relatively low-cost health insurance options for academic physicians. ➡️ You may have the option to take unpaid leave from work for family or medical reasons, and you may be able to utilize a Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance to improve your skills. ➡️ You may be able to earn additional income by speaking at lectures, which can also lead to new opportunities in your career. Why is government intervention needed for Middle class? A sudden feeling about middle class from government side is, middle class is capable of taking risk, doing business, completely capable of becoming financially self dependent, then why governments' intervention is needed?!. This is true as far as capabilities are considered. Major role that government can play in middle class life is ease of living. 1) As already discussed, imagine those hard working middle class tax payers stuck in traffic for 2 hours, working in office for 9 hours again the same story while returning home. So facilitating metro helps them a lot. It's not just the middle class, even the BPL and APL. Imagine the time / frustration saved for the youth of entire country ! 2) Imagine a middle class girl/boy who secured a medical/ engineering seat. To pursue this education the parents or the child need to bear exorbitant fee structure. Imagine s(he) doesn't get the job for 4-5 years. Can that family bear the difficulty of education loan or the investment made for the child. What if only 5-10% of the class gets job based on gender, location, caste b(i)ased jobs. What should other children and families do? If the government can facilitate just the linking between job opportunities and the skilled youth, it's not just good for the child, family but also the entire nation saves a lot of development time. Making fee structure nominal even in private school is another intervention needed by the government. 3) Can middle class earning below 10 lac afford 25-50 lac medicine expenditure for some major surgery? Awareness of a medical insurance or proper financial investment education makes their affordability level higher. 4) Imagine a small business is handled by a (wo)man. Now that small business is taken to a next level and a site for factory / building construction is applied. What if the site registration doesn't happen for 12-15 years? Entire dream is shattered. Government should intervene in resolving such issues at the earliest. Right now officials and even some politicians are busy in taking bribe and not doing the work even after that. Just to convert from C khata to A khata, many years are taken. These are just few examples. Government SHOULD play an important role in bringing up last three rows which includes middle class. If middle class is ignored, by the time poor class becomes middle class, middle class becomes poor class 😆 . Then, this will be an infinite loop.

Did you know that once your child turns 18, you can no longer make their medical appointments or speak with their doctor👩⚕️, even if they are on your insurance plan? You also might not know that you’ll lose your ability to access their school grades or assist them with money management. If you want to stay medically, academically, and financially involved after their milestone birthday, here’s what you need to know: 👩⚕️ Healthcare: A HIPAA authorization lets you access medical records and set appointments. A healthcare power of attorney/healthcare proxy enables you to make emergency medical decisions. 🎓Academics: A Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) authorization allows you to access your child’s GPA, credits, scholarship status, tuition info, and disciplinary records. 💳 Finances: Financial Power of Attorney lets you help organize finances, pay student loan bills, cover car payments, check balances, and pay taxes. Have you had any experience with these? Please share below! 👇

Today’s federal budget does not feature significant new investments into Canadians’ access to a family doctor. Last year’s $25B investment into priority areas, including “access to family health services” must go to front-line family doctors. Family doctors are in the middle of a crisis. They need: - Fair Pay - Less Paperwork - More Teams Investment is needed now! We applaud the federal government for pledging to help people with disabilities. But let’s stop making family doctors police the system like they do with the Disability Tax Credit, so they can prioritize patient care. The federal government must further invest in the family doctors of tomorrow by expanding debt forgiveness and deferring federal student loan repayments for family doctor trainees. Investing in foreign credential recognition is a step in the right direction. We look forward to working with the federal government in speeding up assessments to allow international medical graduates to practice. The CFPC applauds the Youth Mental Health Fund. Mental health services must be part of the CFPC’s Patient’s Medical Home https://lnkd.in/gWDPduj8. The ongoing investment in Indigenous health is promising and must include support for the National Consortium for Indigenous Medical Education.
