WHY SOME PEOPLE SO EASILY GET A JOB BUT SOME DON'T. IT'S NOT RELATED TO YOUR EXPERIENCE NOR EDUCATION. IT IS DEPENDING ON YOU AND YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARD THE JOB. DO YOU REALLY LIKE THAT JOB THAT YOU INTERVIEW FOR? THE JOB KNOW YOU AND CAN READ YOU. IF YOU REALLY LIKE THE JOB YOU WON'T MISS IT. DOES THE JOB KNOW YOU? THE JOB LIKE OTHER THINGS HAVE CONCIOUSNESS. IF ANY CAN HAVE CONCIOUSNESS SO DOES THE JOB. SOME PEOPLE HAVE LESS EDUCATION AND LESS EXPERIENCE THAN YOU BUT THEY GOT THE JOB. SO IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION DON'T WORRY CONTINUE TO APPLY FOR THE JOBS THAT BELONG TO YOU AND YOU WILL GET IT. I DID NOT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION AND I CAN GET A JOB EASILY ON MY FIRST JOB AFTER I MET MY COUNSELOR AT THE YOUTH SERVICE CENTER. MY GOT INTO I.T. W/O EVEN A COLLEGE DEGREE BY ATTENDING VOCATIONAL TRAINING. HE WORKED AT CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO AS TECHNICAL SUPPORT NOW. WE CAN LEARN A LOT FROM THEM.

I'm going to keep preaching this Collaboration over competition every time, no matter the profession But especially in such important, life changing, politically charged areas like #reentry, #criminaljusticereform and #socialjustice I may like tacos better from one place and burritos better from another...it doesn't mean I'm only ever going to pick one of the places to support 🌮 Sometimes in reentry I hear "only those with lived experience should be doing it" and others preach "only college trained professionals should be going inside" spoiler alert...they can both be the same people We do better making real change with more amplified, diverse voices working together And reentry is not a one size fits all concept...people may prefer to learn and work with multiple providers at the same or different time So here I am shouting out another reentry guru that is in my hometown...#linkedinconnections meet my friend Terry johnson he is just getting going on LinkedIn and can use some support (just don't go selling him services to optimize his page as I will help him with that soon) This world needs more people hyping each other 🌎 And April is Second Chance Month so it makes it even better we were able to meet yesterday on the first day of the special month So three questions for you Who do you want to hype today...tag them in a comment below Do you prefer tacos or burritos (don't make me make an official poll on this) And have you connected with Terry yet? #reentrymatters #restorativejustice #secondchance #corrections

Workforce Development Leader | Passionate #FirstGen #EarlyCareer Coach | Baumhart Scholar | Chorus Singer
Sharing this because I know I’m not alone… As a #firstgenerationcollegestudent, I entered university declaring a random major in Civil Engineering without any intention of pursuing it as a career. 🤷🏽 Given that I had no clue what pathway to pursue, I explored for my first two years… 1️⃣ Since many #Filipinos worked in the #healthcare field (physicians, nurses, dentists, lab techs), for two years, I volunteered at a student-run clinic that provided free healthcare services to Filipino WWII Veterans. 💥 While I liked providing direct care and making an impact, I wasn’t passionate enough about studying the biological sciences. 2️⃣ #publicpolicy was another area I believed I could make an impact. For one summer, I interned at a law center addressing systemic poverty at the state level. 💥 While the work was important, I didn’t appreciate how far removed the work was from the communities that they aimed to impact. Looking back, my #DIY #careerexploration had a significant impact on my professional #trajectory. From these two experiences, I learned that I had an affinity for “place-based” and #communitydevelopment work; I wanted to feel a sense of #fulfillment of satisfaction that I was able to make a direct impact. I hope y’all never stop exploring, especially when it comes to your career and passions. AND...if you are an #earlycareer #firstgen professional who is just beginning this journey, I would love to provide a listening ear, feedback, and a sprinkle of strategy into your #careerdevelopment goals. 🌟 Check out my FREE Career Coaching offering in my "featured posts" and DM me for next steps! 🌟
