A brand that can pivot quickly, adapt, and ride the wave of cultural moments gains an edge in the lightning quick world of social media. When Sabrina's videos started going viral, we (& MAC) didn’t waste time. We reached out, and within five days, she was walking in their runway show during LFW and creating sponsored TikToks to promote their new studio radiance foundation. It wasn’t just a partnership; it was a real-time response to a cultural moment that felt authentic and timely 💨 Her first sponsored video pulled in millions of views and significant media buzz. Why? The theme changes every year, but celebrities like Rihanna, Blake Lively and Kendall Jenner have attended in previous years This year, we saw some familiar faces, like Zendaya, but some new ones too! But what can we learn about marketing from The MET Gala? Behind-the-Scenes Content 📸 Vogue has captivated YouTube audiences with exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses of the MET Gala, offering an insider's view into one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year. Their coverage, including interviews by Emma Chamberlain with her cool and casual demeanor, helps viewers feel connected to the glamour and excitement. Celebrities like Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo preparing for the gala further enhance the sense of transparency and exclusivity. Incorporating Influencers 💅 In recent years, influencers have become more prominent at the MET Gala, serving as interviewers, guests, and brand ambassadors. So simple, but so true

The Row’s controversial decision to ban cameras and photo-taking at their recent FW24 show still has everyone in the fashion industry talking. If you don’t keep up with fashion week, I’ll run you up to speed by saying that this was a brave move on their part. There are show attendees (think: buyers, editors, celebs, influencers), and then there are outsiders. Traditionally, brands and houses rely on their photos being distributed by attendees and the press to generate buzz and sales. Instead, The Row gave attendees a notepad and a pen and asked them to jot down their thoughts during the show. This decision ended up generating more buzz and more press than most other shows at fashion week. Some good press, some not so good. But still press. My point is: Starting a new dialogue is the best type of branding. You can create buzz simply by doing things your own way and leveraging that. I think there’s some takeaways that new and aspiring brands can consider.

🔮Social Media Trend Predictions For Met Gala Monday 🔮 As a comms pro who not only drove Met Gala activations at Instagram but has also followed the event since the days of Joan Rivers… I have some thoughts and predictions that I wanted to share for my fellow observers of the First Monday in May 📸💭 my predictions for MetGala2024 ✨ 👀 All eyes will be on TikTok as the app is the official social media sponsor of the event dethroning brands like YouTube (red carpet sponsor) and Instagram (guest/ creator sponsor). TikTok live is about to have a red carpet live event moment that will draw in more users to the platform. TikTok stories is going to have a little moment esp for celebrities who might still think video trends are cringe. 📸🎤 We are going to see more creators on the red carpet both as guests but also correspondents. In 2021, I invited Instagram Meme Culture Curator Saint Hoax to be the first ever meme correspondent on the red carpet. Shortly after we have seen the rise of creators on the red carpet using their platform to interview celebrities. If I were a brand account I would be watching the red carpet live stream closely and stay on standby to live meme red carpet moments in real time to boost awareness about your brand on the algorithm through organic content 🤳🏾 Get ready for celeb GRWM videos and more shot on iPhone unedited content - celebs who used to go to media outlets to place glam photos are now going to be in the front seat of their own storytelling and tap into creator trends. I also think Anna is going to get lax about phones inside Met Gala - given the nature of tiktok and video sharing - we are going to see more celebrities sharing online in a way we haven’t seen before. 📰 The red carpet is a visual representation of fashion, pop culture, and news (at least it once was). All eyes will be on celebrities to use their platform to shed light what is happening in the world now. 🕰💐Is time running out for the Met Gala? For “influencer culture?” This year’s Met Gala theme was “Garden of Time”, a nod to a story where a couple lives in an opulent garden, snipping blooms one by one to freeze time and keep a hoard of incoming peasants at bay. For the wealthy guests rubbing elbows, the Met Gala is a lavish escape where the troubles of the outside world are frozen out, for a night. But the backlash from one influencer's ill-advised Tiktok video quoting Marie Antoinette was a jarring reminder that the masses are growing closer and louder. The Met Gala has grown more extravagant year over year, and geared younger and younger in its coverage and inclusion of internet micro-celebrities. These two trends seem to be coming to a head: young people living paycheck to paycheck are losing interest in watching these extravagant displays of wealth. ✨What does the precedent set by the “digital guillotine” mean for the field of influencer marketing? ✨How can consumer brands pivot and demonstrate self-awareness in this landscape?
