A reinforced masonry wall is by ASCE 30-14, table 2-1 "Wall Systems" , is a "barrier wall system". Even without construction drawings available, the observations about stucco cladding weep screeds missing is irrelevant as they aren't required. It's a barrier wall, not a drainage system. Therefore, I would expect there to be barrier windows installed as well. I don't care if you're a "leading authority", you're still wrong. Now, I'm not suggesting the storefronts, which are designated by the manufacturer to be "wet sealed" or barrier windows as newly installed, were perfectly installed. They were not. But not picking up on either of those design intent facts brings the rest of your observations into question as well.

Sheet Metal Roofing What is metal sheet roofing? Several alternative methods of using metal as a roof covering are possible. However, metal may also be used to construct shingles, molded into shapes resembling tiles, shakes, or slates. The primary forms are based on sheet-like panels, which may be flat or profiled, either prefabricated or made on-site. Skilya’s standing seams or rolling joints are frequently used to link metal roofing sheets. These do not employ exposed mechanical fasteners; a unique protruding seam is created by a clipped or rolled pattern. This method, which may be used to make straight or curved seams, is adaptable and can be prefabricated or produced on location. Additionally, various built-up roofing systems, trims, and flashings are available to create valleys, ridges, roof lights, aprons, sills, corners, barges, and other architectural features. These historically associated with industrial buildings include profiled and corrugated metal roof panels, sometimes referred to as “wriggly tin,” as well as built-up roofing systems. Constructed from materials such as brick, stone, or concrete, these sturdy and resilient building exteriors have proven their ability to weather the test of time. However, design and safety standards have evolved - and so have the passive fire protection and moisture management measures used to safeguard the lives and well-being of those using these buildings. Our suite of factory-engineered passive fire and cavity tray solutions have been developed to help architects, fire engineers, and contractors meet the fire safety and damp-proofing requirements of their projects while yielding significant advantages in build program speed and sequencing. This includes ‘friction fitted’ cavity barriers to brickwork where ‘green’ mortar is not yet fully set, and ‘Euroclass A2-s1, d0’ cavity trays that don’t need soldering, sealants, or costly made-to-order prefabricated corner sections – which can comply with the requirements of the UK’s top #BuildingWarranty providers NHBC, LABC, and #PremierGuarantee. The Siderise masonry range includes: ▪EW Cavity Barrier and Firestops ▪CT Cavity Tray ▪BB-FB Balcony Bracket CTA see what our products can do for you https://lnkd.in/eDz-ukqN #BrickBuilding #Construction #BuildingSafety #FireSafety

A very popular product and solution in South Texas is our Long Bay® Roof System. Freeing up space and making the most of each square foot is the desire and challenge we face in the construction industry. This is where the Long Bay system provides measurable advantages: 1. Bays stretching from 40-60 feet reduce the number of interior columns. 2. Cold formed from 12 and 14 ga steel to create chord and web members that are stronger, wider, and lighter than conventional bar joists; resulting in a reduced cost in the foundation. 3. Ease of installation with a truly bolted system and no field welding, along with little bridging required. This brings a massive savings in time to erect the building. 4. A single source system means seamless scheduling and timely delivery. It all adds up to less: less time, less bridging, less outlay, less hassle, and less unavailable square footage. In this case, less is most definitely more. #PEMB #LongBay #Steel #StarBuildings #CBB https://lnkd.in/gtRYv69g

Building Knowledge: Self-levelling concrete and it’s use for correcting a dipped subfloor. This ties into my first post about floor prep. Humps are the primary problem when it’s time to prep for the finished floor installation. The opposite of this problem is a dip in the subfloor. These are less common to find than humps, but are equally or even more important to fix. Vinyl and engineered hardwood floors are often a floating floor system. This means the imperfections on the subfloor are easy to feel since the boards are not nailed or glued down. As these types of floors are so common, it’s critical that the subfloor is in perfect condition before their installation. During the floor prep, a dip can be spotted by seeing the gap between your straight edge (level) and the subfloor. These can be easy to miss, as with a hump the straight edge wobbles to indicate the imperfection. A dip however, must be seen by eye. Find the edges of the dip and then map out the affected area with spray paint. A dip of 1/8” is the maximum tolerance for hardwood/vinyl, 1/4” is the tolerance for carpet. Once the area is laid out, the subfloor is cleaned and a primer is applied. The primer prepares the area for the self-leveller, providing improved cohesion and coverage. The self-leveller compound is then mixed in a container with water until it reaches the right consistency. Not too thick, and not too runny. This is key as the product will not work as intended unless mixed properly. The self-leveller is then poured across the affected area and guided into position with a straight edge. With the straight edge, check the area by seeing if there is a gap underneath it. No gap, no problems. If there is then apply more self-leveller to the area. After 24 hours, the patch is now fully dry and ready for the installation of the finished floor. #Construction #NewBuild #SelfLeveller #Flooring
