**TW: Upsetting Content** The Independent: GP calls for better funding of research into ME, inquest hears "Dr Lucy Shenton said doctors needed more help to treat patients with myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), such as Maeve Boothby-O’Neill. There needs to be better funding of the research into people suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, the GP treating a young woman with the condition told her inquest." Dr Shenton said: “Regarding severe ME there needs to be more funding and research into ME to provide the evidence and guidelines for clinicians to work from. There needs to be somewhere within the NHS providing specialist care for patients with severe ME and an easy mechanism to access that provision." https://lnkd.in/emihiGzz #pwME #MECFS #MyalgicE #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis #SevereME #MaeveInquest

#Proud to be a part of this Kandu Health™ team that has yielded great #outcomes for our first 100 patients. The #stroke #data gathered demonstrated over a 50% #reduction of #inpatient #readmissions compared to published ranges. This data was gathered from enrollees between the age of 27-86 years of age. “90 day modified Rankin Scores (mRS), along with inpatient readmission rates >50% lower than those observed in published literature. Ninety five percent (95%) of program participants achieved clinician-assessed mRS scores of 0-2 at 90 days.” … (The mRS, a 6-point disability scale ranging from 0 to 5, is commonly used in stroke #clinicaltrials, with an additional category of 6 for patients who do not #survive.) “Among #patients referred to Kandu from inpatient settings, #clinician -assessed 90-day mRS was captured for 92% of #participants. #results showed that 55% of participants with an #enrollment score >0 demonstrated #improvements at 90 days. 95% of inpatient-referred enrollees achieved independent living (mRS 0-2) by program #completion. All-cause, all-facility inpatient readmission rates in this #population were similarly impressive: 4.5% at 30 days and 9.5% at 90 days.” #strokerecovery #strokeprevention #strokeawareness #strokerehabilitation #strokecare #stroketreatment #strokesurvivor #strokeresearch #digitalhealth #digitalhealthcare #digitalhealthinnovation

This article by Helen McArdle in The Herald Scotland highlights the pressing issue of stroke care targets in NHS Scotland, with performance against key stroke bundle elements declining since the pandemic. Ensuring timely treatment is crucial, yet only 53% of patients received all four components of the stroke bundle on time in 2023. Accessibility and timely interventions are critical. Our Digital Clinical Pathway empowers clinicians with real-time data and insights, ensuring patients receive the right treatment quickly and efficiently. Improving accessibility to quality stroke care helps achieve better outcomes and reduces the risk of severe disability and death.
