Bailard ranked #91 of 521 firms in 2023; #94 of 534 firms in 2022; #97 out of 607 in 2021; and #100 of 715 in 2020. There was no fee to enter.

Firstly, I'm an advocate for transparency. And volunteer to support transparency initiatives. Thoughts on this SJP development: There are 175 clients per adviser. If advisers provided 2 comprehensive reviews per week, that leaves 75 orphaned paying OAFs for no service. Based on average case £150k, that works out about £500m per annum in redress. Going back 10 years to the introduction of OAF, that's about a 10x higher provision. The Telegraph mentioned this weekend, disturbingly, evidence suggests that SJP may have documented annual reviews that, according to client accounts, never occurred. Which brings into question whether the review is desk based, or are they contacting customers? I agree - Let's hope that their big institutional investors and the Financial Conduct Authority are using their clout to get to the bottom of this & not just accepting everything the company says at face value.
Thanks to the Mail on Sunday and Patrick Tooher for highlighting my concerns over SJPs £426m recent provision. Their advice fee issue may well affect far more clients than SJP would have you believe. In the transcript from the results presentation the only numbers CFO Craig Gentle referred to were 2% of clients / 1% of AUM. But the size of provision is 10x higher than necessary for that amount, so might it actually be closer to 100,00 clients affected? Let's hope that their big institutional investors and the Financial Conduct Authority are using their clout to get to the bottom of this & not just accepting everything the company says at face value. Last week's interview with new CEO Mark Fitzpatrick in the The Sunday Times included the tag line "We're not evil", but they are definitely masters of spin.
