The rise in AI-related jobs, including machine-learning engineers and data scientists, has been a trend even before the debut of OpenAI's ChatGPT. According to Anil K. Gupta, a professor at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, the chatbot put a user interface on the technology, opening eyes about ways to embed AI into products and workflows. This is happening even as the tech talent market was still recovering from a period of over-hiring. If you're looking for AI roles, keep an eye out for any listing that includes an artificial-intelligence-related keyword, including in the job title, description, and company name. TLDR: New AI Side Project 🤖 While going through the process of leaving my previous company and finding a new job, I had spare time so I decided to try out some ideas with friends. The main goal was to publish a couple of Landing Pages to validate business ideas, acquiring users 100% online via paid media and then decide which idea to pursue. After a couple of failed experiments and based on the data we had, we decided to move forward with “Screener” an AI hiring assistant. The concept behind it is leveraging AI to help reducing hiring time and costs (for companies) and help with preparation for applications and interviews (for candidates) The first iteration will have 4 main components: 💼 For businesses - Automated screening, ranking and selection of candidates - Automated first interview using conversational AI 👨💻 For candidates - Profile review and scoring based on job description - Improvement suggestions to adapt applications to a new reality where CV’s are frequently reviewed by AI tools We are putting together our first simple version of the product (as a side project so might take a bit to go live 😉) so if you want to give it a try, go ahead and sign up for Beta access to then receive feedback when the product is up and running. Please stop hating on candidates who use AI! I’m personally thankful for the technology as it helps distinguish between candidates who are smart and those who are…not. Smart candidates deploy AI in a resourceful way (just like they would on the job). The others? Well, let’s just say we can easily see who the lazy, inattentive, error-prone candidates are and…weed ‘em out. In just one year's time, A.I. has sky rocketed the number of applicants to open job postings. I'll post a link to our talk where we (Gretchen Duhaime, Lynn Schumann, Heidi Stanclift and I) explore how Last Call Media's small hiring teams are tackling recruitment in this current A.I.-saturated climate. A big question I'm still thinking about: If AI is being used to help applicants navigate the application process, then is it now a foregone conclusion that even smaller teams need to leverage AI in hiring said applicants?
