China is set to announce export controls on antimony tomorrow, capping off a crazy 30-day period for the mineral, which has been designated as critical by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Just weeks after China’s August 15th export control announcement, Perpetua Resources received a favorable draft record of decision from the U.S. Forest Service, a major milestone for the Stibnite project after eight years of permitting. This decision not only benefits Stibnite but also strengthens U.S. national security—a development that couldn't have come at a better time.

Congratulations to Perpetual Resources. However, it seems to me that the federal government needs to streamline the environmental permitting process! Miners need finality and certainty in permitting and investment dollars should not be held hostage —- nor should our national security.

Expect a lot more of the former (China “controls”) and more challenges for the latter (US mines)

Why are US regulators stalling mining until the last minute and why are they picking winners?
