#Yemen - USCENTCOM: Sinking of Motor Vessel Rubymar Risks Environmental Damage: On Mar. 2 at approximately 2:15 a.m., MV Rubymar, a Belize-flagged, UK-owned bulk carrier, sank in the Red Sea after being struck by an Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist anti-ship ballistic missile on Feb. 18. The ship had been slowly taking on water since the unprovoked attack. The approximately 21,000 metric tons of ammonium phosphate sulfate fertilizer that the vessel was carrying presents an environmental risk in the Red Sea. As the ship sinks it also presents a subsurface impact risk to other ships transiting the busy shipping lanes of the waterway. The Iran-backed Houthis pose a heightened threat to global maritime activities. The United States and coalition partners remain committed to safeguarding freedom of navigation, striving to enhance the safety and security of international waters for merchant shipping. 2 May 202: Key takeaways from this evening's update on Israel, Gaza, Hamas and other threats from the great ISW/AEI and appreciation being considered for the stage of 42th Stree.! - Gaza Strip: A Lebanese media outlet published the purported text of the Egyptian-proposed ceasefire deal that Hamas is considering. The agreement addresses almost all of Hamas’ demands except for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Hamas would likely violate a permanent ceasefire, however. - Bahrain: An Iranian-backed Bahraini militia claimed to have conducted a drone strike on the Israeli port city of Eilat. The claimed attack is part of the Iranian-led campaign to impose an unofficial blockade on Israel. The Bahraini militia claiming a drone attack marks the first time that the group has indicated that it has drone capabilities. - Yemen: The Houthi supreme leader emphasized that the Houthis would continue their attacks against Israel and its interests until the destruction of the Israeli state. His remarks demonstrate that the Houthis will remain a serious threat to international shipping even in the event of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. - Africa: Iran is trying to use its military exports as a vehicle for expanding its influence in Africa. Iran and Niger are negotiating over a deal that would send Iranian weapons to Niger in exchange for Iranian access to Nigerien uranium reserves. Iran previously tried to use its military exports to Sudan to receive Sudanese permission to establish an Iranian naval base on the Red Sea. #israel #gaza #hamas #middleeast #linkedintopvoices

The US is concerned that Russia may be sharing information with China about American and European weapons used in the Ukraine war. A bipartisan US congressional committee has requested the Biden administration to assess this issue and determine the extent to which Russia has shared information with China. The committee believes that Russia has found vulnerabilities in American weapons, undermining their effectiveness. China and Russia have strengthened ties in response to the conflict in Ukraine, with both countries aiming to reduce the influence of the US and the West internationally. Additionally, Chinese and Russian companies are reportedly developing an attack drone similar to an Iranian model used in Ukraine, raising concerns about China's support for Russia. #AsiaRisk #GeopoliticalConflictandDisputes #India Follow us for daily updates on risk and operations in Asia! https://lnkd.in/gvKKQqYS
