This video captures why I am so passionate about my nonprofit Slingshot Memphis, Inc. Businesses spend so much time, effort, and analytical rigor when it comes to trying to make money - imagine if we put forth that same level of time, effort, and analytical rigor to fight poverty and help improve the quality of peoples' lives. Every year, Slingshot raises money through our Accelerate Impact Fund to support nonprofits that are effective (we know which are effective because we study and measure their impact). What is unique is that 100 percent of the contributions go directly to these nonprofits, but in proportion to how effective they are (i.e. the most effective nonprofits receive more funding). This approach ensures our philanthropy has the most impact possible in helping reduce poverty. It would mean a lot to me if you were willing to make a contribution before the end of the year. Announcing The Swell Collective as the latest winner of a #SonyCreateAction grant! The Swell Collective serves communities that historically have been oppressed or marginalized by inspiring, equipping, and amplifying change-agents with positive sum practices. Positive-sum outcomes are those in which the sum of winnings and losses result in a sum greater than zero – in the other words, leaving the world a better place than how we found it. By investing care, peer support, and capacity-building resources into communities, The Swell Collective aims to accelerate the world’s emergence into a positive-sum future. Born out of the #SonyGlobalSocialJusticeFund, Create Action supports underserved, underrepresented communities by amplifying the efforts of local, grassroots nonprofits. The Swell Collective is the 23rd nonprofit to win a Create Action grant, totaling $2.3 million in Sony products and grants to date.
