Sometimes in the past, on a Sunday afternoon, I would start to feel the dread descend as the idea of having to go to work on Monday approached. Since joining Health Consumers' Council WA six years ago I can genuinely say I've looked forward to going to work every day. It's down to a few ingredients: 👍 the people I work with - including the team at HCC, as well as those in consumer representative and consumer leadership roles, people in the broader consumer movement and allies working in government and health services - who are inspiring and committed to their work of improving health outcomes and experiences 👍 the work we do - listening to consumers, connecting people with the information and support they need to assert their rights, and championing consumer perspectives at every level of decision making in health. We cover every aspect of health and healthcare, so there's lots of variety. 👍 the fun and joy we share while we do this work that is sometimes heavy, but is essentially about relationships and connection. We've just refreshed our strategic plan. It reaffirms our commitment to being an independent voice for the community on all aspects of health - as well as playing our part as a catalyst and agent of change. WHERE WE ARE GOING A mission statement should tell everyone who reads it where you are going as an organization. It's the destination you want to reach. You Core Values are they day to day things that you hold important that will help you get to your destination. I have shared of the past few months Foundations Health Solutions Core Values. I thought today, I probably should share with you our Mission Statement. Our Destination, Goal, where we want to get to as a Company. I simply call it our "Culture of Care." We probably will never completely arrive at our Destination, and that's ok, we should always be striving to improve and learn and grow.
