Do you stay to the end? Do you finish? Do you finish strong? When I exhibited at trade shows, one of my rules was to stay to the end of the show. I'm sure it drove my team crazy, especially when it was a crappy show and everyone up and down the aisle was packing up early. Most of the time, staying to the very end meant we would make another sale. Frankly, staying to the end made sense. The hardest part of a trade show is getting there in the first place. At the end, there are always attendees rushing through looking for something, anything. Maybe they should have gotten to the show earlier, but they didn't. They are busy people. They are hard to reach. And here they come down the aisle, when the competition for their attention is packing up and going home. The last hour of a trade show can be the best hour. Staying the end is the difference in a lot of life's activities. How many times have hunters been successful because they waited until the last light before packing up? How many times has the outcome of a sporting event turned on the last few minutes or the last play? Even when it doesn't matter, stay to the end and finish strong. If you're running a race, kick at the end. Finish strong. Make it a habit. Then, when it does matter it won't be as much of a struggle. It'll be what you do.
