thank you Brenda Smith for sharing the article and your thoughts both well-written we need critical Thinkers no one is impartial We all have a position on everything we take time to consider we can have opinions and still make robust, reasonable, rational, respectful arguments for and against. we can still conduct investigations and write objective reports we can still analyze data and interprete that data those of us who make decisions, write reports and analyze data must go through a process of due diligence and peer review. we must reflect on our thinking to check for our biases...check in with supervisors to discredit or deny a person of a position in the media because of their personal opinion is shortsighted Judge people on their work, their integrity and their ability to do the job not solely on their personal opinions
Ki te kore inaianei, katahi ka āhea? Ki te kore e tātou, katahi ko wai? If not now then when? If not us then whom?
No one is impartial. We all have a position on everything. Some might say they don’t, but that means their position is to not deem the issue worthy of a position. “Having no position” has been the standard for news media for as long as it has existed. Impartiality, neutrality. Political reporters like Guyon Espiner and Duncan Garner will say they don’t vote, as if by not participating in democracy they have somehow wiped their brain of thoughts. It’s all a farce.

BBC Verify. Isn't this just 'journalism'? What are all the other stories, if not verified? Or shouldn't the 'verification' be baked into the actual story itself? I'm sort of half joking. We live in a world where the BBC has been overtaken by 'the news'. They're not reporting the news, but reporting on what has become news. They're not setting the agenda, curating the news and creating the news like they used to, they're reporting on existing news that's out in the world and having to verify whether it's true/correct. Sorry, I must dash, I have an incoming call from Eric A. Blair... I realise that the BBC has become a divisive institution of late, but I applaud them for working to surface objective truth and verified facts. In a time of state-run media monopolies and private interests influencing media, the BBC remains one of the most reliable sources of news. #news #content
