Work-life balance isn’t just for corporate offices—it should extend to every worker, including those who help run our homes. Before criticizing CEOs for demanding weekend work without overtime, let’s reflect on how we treat our domestic workers. #WorkLifeBalance #LaborRights #EqualityForAll https://lnkd.in/desYAcjV

The importance of family and downtime - a personal reflection. Years ago, work consumed my life. It wasn't about the money; I convinced myself I 'enjoyed working'. Always available for overtime, weekend, and holiday shifts, I was never home. A wake-up call came from my(then) 6-year-old daughter during a school drawing activity on future jobs. Her words hit hard: "I don’t want a job. If you have a job, you are always tired and cranky." It was a pivotal moment. I realized the impact of my absence on my family. I made a conscious decision to prioritize quality time. From that day, I learned to say NO to excessive work demands. Despite reducing hours, I remained productive. My shift in mindset didn't sit well with my employer, highlighting a misalignment in values. I chose to leave, understanding the importance of a supportive work environment. Today, I appreciate employers recognizing the value of downtime and work-life balance. It's heartening to witness a shift towards prioritizing employee well-being. #FamilyFirst #WorkLifeBalance #EmployeeWellbeing

Summary of job with my employer... ➡️ Working hours: From the second you open your eyes in the morning until roughly 8pm. Overtime likely. ➡️ 7 days a week. Annual leave at your leisure but have to take work with you so are you really leaving anything apart from the comfort of your everyday surroundings? ➡️ Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner : Eat whilst working.. whatever you can rustle up whilst employers are distracted with other matters and not bothering you. ➡️ Breaks: None. Although when really desperate for a toilet break, the youngest employer often insists on accompanying you. ➡️ Management style: Dependent on amount of sleep had/needed and food had/needed by employers at that particular moment in time. Can turn it around though by playing anything by The Wiggles. That being said, I did manage to complete Project Roast Dinner this evening, whilst keeping my two employers from killing each other. Even if that meant having a garden bench in the middle of my kitchen. I mean 'a win is a win' so... 🤷♀️ How's your Monday been? #silverlinings #parenting #positivity #monday

Your late nights at work will fade away. But your kids will always remember them. Your boss won't recall your overtime. Your clients won't remember your sacrifice. Time is a currency we can't reclaim. Once spent, it's gone forever. This isn't about guilt - but awareness. About making conscious decisions daily. Ask yourself: What will matter in a few years? Here's how to optimize your work-life balance: 1. Priority Check: ↳ Consistently evaluate how you're allocating your most precious resource - time. 2. Quality Time: ↳ Focus on meaningful interactions with loved ones, not just quantity of time. 3. Boundary Setting: ↳ Establish clear work-life boundaries, and communicate them to both family and colleagues. 4. Conscious Living: ↳ Approach each day with intention, considering the long-term impact of your choices. 5. Future Perspective: ↳ Regularly imagine your future self looking back. What choices would you be proud of? Remember: You're irreplaceable at home. But at work, someone else can (always) do your job. #WorkCulture#Worklifebalance#

Many corporate professionals face challenges with extended working hours, often at the expense of their dignity and work-life balance. Under Indian labour laws, it is not permissible for an employee to work more than 48 hours a week or 9 hours a day. The total work hours in a day, including rest intervals, should not exceed 10.5 hours, with a half-hour break after every five hours of work. Additionally, overlapping shifts and a seven-day workweek are not allowed. If you're working beyond these limits, you're entitled to overtime compensation. It's crucial to stay informed about your rights in the workplace. If you find yourself in a situation where your work hours are unfair, remember that legal provisions exist to protect you. In a demanding work environment, your voice deserves to be heard. Stand up for your rights and ensure your professional life is respected. Helpful? Do you work weekends, or are weekends a no-no? Interested to know your take, as for me it depends on the circumstances. If we are falling behind on a deadline and time is running out, and as long as their overtime benefits, why not? However, working the weekends all the time is a sure path to being burnt out. So where do we draw the line, I guess that's the question most work-life balance books try to answer. I believe if you engage in an activity for forty hours a week, you need to put some time aside for leisure and socializing just to be healthy. Please don't work eighty hours a week, there is much to life than just work. I do understand that this could also be attributed to cultural influences like how Japanese engineers sleep only for four hours and work throughout. I guess the end justifies the means even if it comes at the cost of health. Well, you can't get time back or your health back once it's gone, but you can always make money. Just keeping things in perspective. However, my biases aside what is the most time you have worked in a week? #worklifebalance #weekends #burnout

🚩 Pay attention to these workplace red flags before you end up burned out, drained, and full of regret: • Your “dream job” turns out to be nothing like what you were promised. • Overtime becomes the norm, and work-life balance? Nonexistent. • Taking a sick day feels like a crime. • No support, no teamwork, just you against the world. Don’t settle for less than you deserve. Find a workplace that values you—not just your output. Your mental health isn’t negotiable. 🧠 #KnowYourWorth #LeadershipMatters

🇫🇷 In need of a break? Check out what the French do. In France, employee rights are prioritized. They have a 35-hour workweek, are paid for overtime, and there’s a law that gives the French a legal right to disconnect outside of work hours. I don’t know about you, but that sounds great to me! Here are three microsteps you can try with your team to emulate how the French unplug, even if can’t set company policy (or law!). 🔌 Support Unplugging: Encourage team members to unplug after work by respecting off-hours. ⏳ Consider Comp Time: Offer comp time for team members after particularly busy periods. 🏖️ Model & Encourage Vacations: Use your vacation days and actively encourage your team to use theirs to disconnect and recharge. It’s time we rethink how we protect our workforce in the US. Let’s promote healthier, more sustainable work environments! *** This is part of a 5-day series inspired by my recent travels through Europe, exploring what the US can learn from human-centric practices across five countries! 📸 My husband TJ and I enjoying a drizzly day in La Petite France, Strasbourg, France 🇫🇷 #EmployeeRights #WellbeingAtWork #FutureOfWork
