It’s no longer debatable how the widespread adoption of chemicals and corporate farming have led to the destruction of our topsoil, the contamination of air and water, the sickness and suicides rampant among stricken farmers, the extinction-level losses to our biodiversity, and near-collapse of our planetary systems. https://lnkd.in/gcp_sPZR

𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘀 🌾 The rise of invasive thrips species poses a significant challenge to global agriculture, threatening crops worldwide. At Koppert, we're spearheading the charge against invasive thrips by harnessing the power of nature. One promising ally in this battle is Franklinothrips vespiformis, a voracious predator of thrips species. While its potential has been hindered by production constraints, we're working tirelessly to make it more accessible to growers worldwide. By focusing on biological solutions and reducing reliance on chemical pesticides, we're not just fighting thrips – we're championing sustainable agriculture. Read more in the article below. #PartnerswithNature #thripscontrol #biocontrol

#regenerativeagriculture is a philosophy and approach to land management that nourishes people and the earth. The holistic principles of regenerative farming aim to restore soil and #ecosystem health, address inequity and leave our land, waters and #climate in better shape for future generations. #farming #foodsecurity #nationalsecurity #health #foodismedicine #onehealth
“Our human and land ecology problems are connected. This documentary shows how life has been cheapened and commoditized. This consuming cancer has permeated our government, educational and human health systems. This is why we are sick.” - Ray Archuleta, Founder of Understanding Ag, LLC - Experts in Regenerative Ag & former Soil Conservationist, Water Quality Specialist, and Conservation Agronomist with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service of USDA, tells Lipi Roy, MSc, MD, MPH, FASAM for her new article about Common Ground (Movie) in Forbes. https://lnkd.in/gf-zGdur Join the movement to restore our #soil, health, and planet at commongroundfilm.org 🌱 #biodiveristy #healthcare #health #climate #water #food #farming #agriculture #regenerativeagriculture

Almost half (44%) of the world's habitable land is used for agriculture- an area around 5 times the size of the United States. The shift to improved productivity of land use is now critical as the planet faces biodiversity loss. Whether using more efficient grazing lands or increasing crop yields through sustainable agriculture solutions, we can continue to produce more food, using less land, and at less cost to the environment. #Agriculture #SustainableAgriculture #Biodiversity

And the pitch for this makes me want to blow my head off, MIT 🤦🏻♂️. "One approach to the biodiversity crisis..." that's *not* the crisis*. The crisis is deforestation. Be explicit. Nobody gives a rat's ass about bio-effing-diversity*. But they hear "deforestation," and alarm bells go off. That's half our carbon sink, forests. The phytoplankton aren't just gonna double up their efforts because the trees are all gone. We need alternative agriculture — and potentially alternatives /to agriculture/ — because of the deforestation crisis. *In fact, I can show you a news article from /yesterday/ that 2.2% of species comprise a whipping 50% of rainforest trees. https://lnkd.in/gbzaRSnW

"Here, we estimated how agricultural diversification simultaneously affects social and environmental outcomes. Drawing from 24 studies in 11 countriesacross 2655 farms, we show how five diversification strategies focusing on livestock, crops, soils, noncrop plantings, and water conservation benefit social (e.g., human well-being, yields, and food security)and environmental (e.g., biodiversity, ecosystem services, and reduced environmental externalities)outcomes. We found that applying multiple diversification strategies creates more positive out comes than individual management strategies alone." https://lnkd.in/dNTqexNJ

Digital Content Creator | Promoting Sustainable Agriculture with Organic Cultivation & Biological Pest Control | Microbiologist & Biotechnologist | Founder of Our Tiny Garden | Pharmaceutical Sales & Marketing Manager.
By promoting beneficial insect habitats and creating a balanced ecosystem, organic farming not only supports crop health but also enhances biodiversity in your garden. One fascinating example from my own garden (photo attached) is the natural control of aphids. Since I adopted organic practices, parasitic wasps have become a key player in managing aphids. These tiny wasps lay their eggs inside aphids, and as the larvae develop, they kill the aphids from within. This natural biological control has drastically reduced the aphid population, allowing my plants to flourish without the need for chemical insecticides. It’s a win-win for both the environment and sustainable agriculture!
