Our model is simple: once a month neighbors leave the most needed non-perishable items on their front porches, and our volunteers pick up and deliver them to a local pantry. This incredible program is an example of how we can all play a role in supporting our neighbors and creating a more sustainable future. Fueling Hope: Food Services Support for Our Community   Here at the Windsor Park LifeCare Trust, we partner with Windsor Park Baptist Church to co-ordinate and deliver our Food Support Services initiative, providing essential assistance to those facing food insecurity in our community. From freezer meals to fresh produce distributions, we're committed to ensuring that no one goes hungry. However, as the need for food assistance grows, so does our determination to expand our efforts and we could really use your help!   Here are a few ways that you or your organization can help:   Donate pantry items to our office during the week (or into the trolleys positioned in the auditorium on a Sunday). Volunteer to help cook and package meals for our Freezer Bank or offer fresh-cooked dishes. Volunteer to pack parcels or assist with the regular Wednesday KiwiHarvest delivery.   As the demand for our services increases weekly, your support could help us reach even more families in need. Together, we can make a real difference in our community. Also, here’s a massive shout out to our friends at KiwiHarvest for their steadfast support. Did you know that if just 25% of the food lost or wasted was saved it would be enough to feed 870 million hungry people?! You can make a difference! Volunteering at a local food bank is a fantastic way to tackle food waste and hunger at the same time. Last Month, our Sales and Marketing team had an opportunity to assist Northwest Harvest in bagging over 8,000 lbs of beans! These beans will provide 3,300 meals in the Yakima valley. Here's how you can help at a food bank: 🍎Sorting and Packing: Food banks rely on volunteers to sort donated food, ensuring everything is fresh and ready for distribution. 🥪Meal Prep: Many food banks prepare meals for families and individuals in need. Your help with chopping, packaging, or cooking can make a big impact! 🍲Food Rescue: Some food banks pick up perfectly good food from restaurants or grocery stores that would otherwise be thrown away. You could be part of the rescue team! Thank you again to everyone’s involvement in helping bring food to over 800 families in need.

This includes surplus from supermarkets, local food businesses, producers, households, and gardens. Swansea has several food banks available for those in need. Customer Success Story - FoodCycle 🚀 FoodCycle is a UK-based charity that aims to make food poverty, loneliness, and food waste a thing of the past for every community. With weekly community dining, the organization feeds the hungry and offers company to the lonely. After manually handling donations and Gift Aid claims for some time, the organization set out to look for a platform that could keep up with its growth and meet all its needs. This is when they discovered and implemented FinDock, which ended up being the perfect solution for their needs. Carly Shutes, the Head of Marketing at FoodCycle shares: “The reliability we’ve experienced so far is unmatched. This solution is the breath of fresh air we needed. Instead of letting that delicious food go to waste, why not turn it into a good deed? Here's the plan: Next time you grab takeout, ask for an extra container. (Maybe even bring one from home!) Then, when you're done eating, pack up those leftovers nice and neat. But where do they go? Here's the best part! Those leftovers can be a lifesaver for someone in need. We can donate them to local shelters, soup kitchens, or even just share them with a neighbor down the street. Every little bit helps, right? Think of it as acting locally, but with a global impact! Food insecurity isn't just a challenge faced by low-income neighborhoods. It's likely present in your own backyard. With corporate cost-cutting and reorganizations, many people are grappling with unemployment and putting food on the table. You never know what's happening behind closed doors. Writing this post because I found out my daughter has a classmate whose family has been missing meals. I do not know the family but figuring out how to invite them over for a meal or offer support. Here are three actionable steps we can all take to make a difference: 1️⃣ Volunteer at local food banks or community kitchens: Offer your time and support to organizations dedicated to providing meals for those in need. Your assistance can make a tangible impact in alleviating hunger within your community. 2️⃣ Donate non-perishable food items: Take stock of your pantry and consider donating surplus food items to local shelters or food banks. Even small contributions can collectively make a significant difference in combating food insecurity. 3️⃣ Advocate for policy change: Use your voice to advocate for policies that address the root causes of food insecurity, such as unemployment benefits, affordable housing, and access to nutritious food options. By raising awareness and supporting systemic change, we can work towards a more equitable society where everyone has access to an ample food supply.
