Being a first responder in America can be dangerous due to a variety of factors. One reason is the nature of the job itself, which often involves responding to emergencies and crises where there is a high level of risk and uncertainty. First responders are often exposed to dangerous situations such as fires, accidents, violence, and natural disasters. Additionally, the availability of weapons and firearms in the United States can increase the danger faced by first responders. They may encounter situations where individuals are armed and pose a threat to their safety. Furthermore, the lack of mental health support and resources for first responders can also contribute to the dangers they face. The stress and trauma of the job can take a toll on their mental well-being, leading to issues such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Overall, being a first responder in America is a challenging and risky job that requires courage, resilience, and a strong support system. #firstresponders

Horrific tragedy in Burnsville, Minnesota with the murders of Officers Paul Elmstrand, Matthew Ruge, and Firefighter/Paramedic Adam Finseth who were shot and killed by a man at a domestic violence call. Their oath to serve took them in harm’s way and their selfless courage ensured they never hesitated to run toward the danger. We must #NeverForget

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Paul, Matt, and Adam, who were killed responding to a domestic violence call in Burnsville, Minnesota. In my 25-year law enforcement career, I found these calls to be the most hazardous due to the access to weapons, revenge motives, and volatile environments. I remember many scary moments and was fortunate to prevent attacks on my partner and me. There's no magic wand, no timeouts, and, unfortunately, no do-overs. Paul, Matt, and Adam bravely went to stop the violence and treat the wounded. We mourn their loss and pray for their families. The things some people do to each other in the name of love are beyond comprehension.

RIP my brothers your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Your courage and dedication speaks volumes of the bravery. May God bless you keep you close.
