Nearing the end of the first draft of my novel Dragonfly Illusion. What is it with me and commas, though? This is from Grammarly's weekly report.

LitFest in the Dena submissions are open until 1/31! Please send us your panel ideas or just throw your hat in the ring to be assigned a panel. Our theme this year is BOOKS THAT TEACH US ABOUT CHARACTER: What can books teach us about character? The people in literary works face moral dilemmas—choosing between personal gain and doing the right thing, whatever the consequences. Fictional heroes often explore the boundaries of character, asking us which traits we deem noble. The same choices and internal struggles appear in nonfiction works such as biographies or histories, deepened by the impact of character on the real world. Looking at character in books helps us stay true to our values, even in the most threatening of circumstances. By immersing ourselves in the stories of others—be they true or imagined—we develop a stronger moral compass and a deeper understanding of how to live with character. https://lnkd.in/gVpFwCgm

New blog on my Edta Tales website: All the world's a stage... Greetings mythics! I’ve been asked to be on a fantasy panel with other fellow fantasy writers for the upcoming Herts Book Festival (18th and 19th May) and the theme is World Building. I’ve always loved this aspect of writing and in fantasy, along with Sci-fi and Horror, world building is crucial. It’s obvious to say if you are writing a contemporary novel then it’s pretty much a given that your readers will know about the environment the book is set in. Even if it’s set in a different country, the laws of physics, of nature, of the environment are the same so the writer doesn’t have to spend time explaining these aspects. They follow the known facts about the real world we live in (we could go down the rabbit hole of what is ‘real’ and what isn’t, but we’ll save that for another day!). What is world building? Check out the rest of my blog to find out. www.edratales.com/blog#/
