⚡♻️ UK NEWS - National Grid to speed up 20 GW of grid connections for clean energy The acceleration will see 19 battery energy storage projects totalling around 10 GW offered connected dates on its transmission network averaging four years earlier than their current agreement. In addition, 10 GW of unlocked capacity announced recently on National Grid’s distribution network in the Midlands, South West of England and South Wales will speed up the connection of a large number of low carbon projects. The announcement is part of ongoing collaborative industry efforts, along with regulator Ofgem and the government, to accelerate and reform connections. Another wave of clean energy projects, mainly batteries and hybrid projects where batteries are co-located with wind or solar, will be offered faster transmission connections in a new phase expected in the new year, potentially fast tracking a further 10 GW. #gridconnection #ukrenewables #odinglobal #renewableenergy

⚡UK to finish with coal power after 142 years! The country's last coal power station, at Ratcliffe-on-Soar, finishes operations today after running since 1967. Coal is the dirtiest fossil fuel producing the most greenhouse gases when burnt. The UK was the birthplace of coal power, and from tomorrow it becomes the first major economy to give it up. "It's a really remarkable day, because Britain, after all, built her whole strength on coal, that is the industrial revolution," said Lord Deben - environment secretary. (Picture 3 is the first coal-fired power station in the world, the Holborn Viaduct power station, which was built in 1882 in London by the inventor Thomas Edison - bringing light to the streets of the capital) #renewableenergy #odinglobal #ukenergy

💨⚡ BP announces plans to offload its US onshore wind business, which currently holds 1.7 GW of gross generating capacity across nine wind farms in six states, with an interest in a 10th facility in Hawaii. According to the Financial Times, the business is valued at USD 2 billion (EUR 1.8bn). William Lin, BP's Executive Vice President for Gas & Low Carbon Energy, stated that this move aligns with the company's strategy to simplify its portfolio and focus on value, as the assets are not in line with growth plans for Lightsource bp. #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #odinglobal
