I am curious to see how this #technology by Walt Disney Imagineering will develop. An #omnidirectional #treadsurface is the right way to go. At the moment, it is suitable for simple actions such as walking or perhaps slow running, but not for wild actions. OK, I want to try this! #VR #holodeck

Is Star Trek no longer science fiction? Disney just unveiled the HoloTile Floor and they describe it as the "world’s first multi-person, omni-directional, modular, expandable, treadmill floor." Imagine a floor composed of multiple tiles, each working tirelessly to adapt to your movements and keep you centered. For immersive experiences, this is a dream - for multiple people to "have a shared virtual reality (VR) experience, walk an unlimited distance in any direction, and never collide or walk off its surface." As I've said for years now, soon we'll be able to be present somewhere without physically being there. Another "step" in the direction of making our virtual experiences feel more real.
