Its a very important stat to watch if you have a commercial sports/events web site servicing the public. Bounce rate - its the % of your website visitors who click the back button or leave your site without visiting any pages other than the one they first came to (if a person “bounces” from your site, that doesn't mean they didn't read any of your content or look at what was on your page). We all do it. Generally, a good bounce rate is around 40% or lower. A rate of 60+% is an indication you need to evaluate your page content and make it more helpful and engaging for users. So 50% and above is a amber traffic light I'd say for ticketing company owners. Interesting to look at the bounce rate for the current top event ticketing companies in the world: TicketMaster 50% Eventbrite 57% StubHub 42% Eventim 50% Tickets-Centre 49% Pia (Japanese company) 33% AXS 39% Livenation 56% Vivid seats 53% Tickets.com (the Aus company) 31%. (down the size company list but the best performer I could see was Biletix, the Turkish ticket seller that came in at 20%) Its interesting to compare two very good performers i.e. tickets.com to pia.jp (latter been around for 8 years and the biggest entertainment company in Japan) to see how markets differ. Both different in their opening gambit. Tickets.com have a current "showpiece" event immediately on their landing page followed by a drop-down type calendar list of events in your area. Pia has the opening showpiece but then you choose your category of entertainment from click-on text boxes. Music / Sports / Theatre / Classical / Event & Art. Lastly, what is the average global time a person spends on a web page - a benchmark for Average Time on Page is 52 seconds, across multiple industries.

Very fascinating article that I just found. Since the 90’s band, Oasis, began selling tickets to their highly anticipated 2025 reunion tour late last week, many fans haven’t been able to buy tickets. Some of the reasons are that they cannot access the queue due to high demand, prices are too high, etc. This article specifically explores why sites like Ticketmaster are saying that certain fans are “bots” , when getting are attempting to get tickets. Millions of us just heroically wasted 3+ hours of our precious lives trying to book #Coldplay tickets on #BookMyShow today. Bravo, we did it! 🥲 What did we get in return? Long waits, endless spinning circles, auto logouts, system crashes, and an existential crisis while staring at that "999999+ people ahead of you!" screen. All because Coldplay fever hit India harder than ever. But hey, this could have been avoided with three simple steps (take notes, event organisers 👀): 1. Efficient Traffic Management 📶 : With the obvious buzz and excitement around the Coldplay concert, there should have been better preparedness for traffic surges. Scaling server capacity and using more robust queueing systems would have saved many of us hours of frustration. 2. Limit Ticket Purchases to 2 Per User Account 🎟 : Given the enormous demand, limiting purchases to just two tickets per account would have been a great way to ensure fair distribution and reduce the strain on the system. This would have also helped minimize bulk buyers and ticket scalpers, creating a more equitable process for true fans. 3. Early Release of Extra Dates 📅 : Given Coldplay's immense popularity and the excitement surrounding their performances, the organizers should have foreseen the surge in demand. By releasing additional dates sooner, they could have alleviated some of the rush, giving more fans the opportunity to secure tickets without the frenzy. Lesson learned for future event bookings 💡: Invest in better tech infrastructure, apply fair purchasing limits, and be proactive when demand is clearly off the charts. Hopefully, these practices are considered for future events! Congrats to the lucky ones who got tickets! 🥳 The rest of us? This lawsuit represents a potential turning point in the live event industry. If the courts rule against Live Nation and Ticketmaster, it could lead to the breakup or restructuring of their operations. This could create opportunities for smaller ticketing companies to gain market share and offer more competitive pricing. The negative public perception of the current ticketing giants could also drive venues and consumers to seek alternative, more customer-friendly solutions.
Hopefully this will not only result in lower ticketing fees, but will open the door for other capable ticketing companies such as #SquadUp to compete more in this space.
