Skin cancer ranks as the most prevalent form of cancer in the United States, impacting 1 in 5 Americans by the age of 70. With the onset of summer, the sun's intensity increases, underscoring the importance of protecting your skin. Simply, having five or more sunburns doubles your risk of developing melanoma. As May marks Skin Cancer Awareness Month, take the opportunity to learn how to protect your skin: 😎 Aim for shade during the peak hours of sun intensity between 10am and 4pm ❌ Steer clear of tanning beds - Using a tanning bed before the age of 35 increases your risk of developing melanoma by 75% 🧴 Apply and reapply sunscreen! The SPF (sun protection factor) of sunscreen indicates how long the sun's UVB rays would take to burn your skin when using sunscreen compared to without it. Play it safe and opt for SPF 15 or above and reapply every 2 hours. 🔍 Regularly check your skin for any changes in moles, freckles, or spots. If you notice anything unusual, consult a dermatologist promptly. #SkinCancerIsSerious #ShareTheFacts #ThisIsSkinCancer #SkinCanerAwareness #SkinCancer #Wellness #SkinCare #Sunscreen
