World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10th each year to raise awareness about mental health issues and promote mental well-being. It's an important day to encourage conversations about mental health, reduce stigma, and support those who may be struggling with mental health challenges.
Mental health awareness during pregnancy is crucial because pregnancy can be a time of emotional and psychological changes for expectant mothers.
Taking care of your mental health during pregnancy and childbirth is vital for both you and your baby's well-being. Prioritize self-care, seek support when necessary, and trust your healthcare team to guide you through this transformative period.

Being pregnant and giving birth are one of life's gifts.
We start our pregnancy journey happy, optimistic, excited, sometimes anxious and scared. What we don't go into pregnancy thinking is that it will be a traumatic experience.
1 in 4 women find some aspect of their birth traumatic. (Make Birth Better). That's a lot of women, and this can make the start to family life challenging.
Birth trauma awareness week is so important in raising awareness on this subject as it's something that we don't talk about and don't feel comfortable talking about as we don't know much about it or what to say.
There are great organisation's out there that do brilliant work to support families who experience birth trauma. @birthbetter are one such organisation. If you want to learn more about birth trauma head to their website, they explain what it is in easy terms so we can all understand what it is better.
It's so important that new parents are supported in their pregnancy journey and beyond to limit the chances of birth trauma. Profession help is vital to ensure parents can understand what happened and how they can move forward. It also helps to give children the best start in life, which is what they deserve.
