A shortage of affordable housing and difficulties in finding secure, suitable places to live have driven up private rents and reliance on temporary accommodation. It’s clear that utilising these vacant properties could provide valuable relief and help address the ongoing housing crisis. 🏠 Delivering affordable housing in South Cambridgeshire The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) defines affordable housing as homes for sale or rent for people whose needs are not met by the private market. Increasing the supply of genuinely affordable homes is essential in tackling the housing crisis. We’re proud that 40% (102) of the low-carbon homes at our #Cambourne development are affordable homes. 72 (70%) will be built according to #Passivhaus principles and allocated for affordable rent, with these properties owned and managed by the Council. The remaining 30 homes (30%) will be available for purchase through shared ownership.
