What on Earth? Potential prison (with or without hard labor) for asking to be reimbursed for continuing education. From a professional association. It's both startling and a point of pride to have a background in such a feared occupation as librarianship. "Proposed law prohibits a public official or employee from expending public funds to or with the American Library Assoc. Further prohibits a public employee from requesting or receiving reimbursement or remuneration in any form for continuing education or for attending a conference if the continuing education or conference was sponsored or conducted, in whole or in part, by the American Library Assoc. Proposed law provides that a person who violates proposed law shall be fined not more than $1,000 or be imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than two years, or both." #SupportLibrarians #LibrariansRule #FearMe

Field Order No. 15: Upholding Sherman's and Lincoln's Promise to the Freed People (I recently became aware that most people have never actually read field order no. 15. So I thought I would try my hand at explaining it as I understand it, and why I believe it still should be honored. If you disagree or see it differently please join me in a discussion thread about why even 159 years later I support the fulfilments of this government order, here on substack or on IG.) https://lnkd.in/g2242RgW
