June is National Safety Month. Week two focuses on Roadway Safety which affects each and every one of us- whether you drive or not. The U.S. Department of Transportation developed a Safe System Approach as the guiding paradigm to address roadway safety. Zero traffic deaths is the goal. The Safe System Approach works by building and reinforcing multiple layers of protection to both prevent crashes from happening in the first place, and to minimize the harm caused to those involved when crashes do occur. Although we cannot control everything when we are on the roads, we can control HOW WE ACT & DRIVE on the roads including putting our phones down, and we can control OUR SPEED.
