Planting native prairie grass seed on the prairies doesn't guarantee a durable stand of native prairie grass. The soil needs help to get back to where it can support plant growth year after year. H-Start Reclaim can help. Check out this trial - the grass with an application of H-Start Reclaim has more roots and more top growth. Which one has a better chance of making it through a hot, dry summer or a cold prairie winter?

How are you keeping cool during hot days? ☀ I spend as much time as I can in the woods. 🌳 Consider planting native trees in your yard to cool off and save energy. Trees provide shade and cool the surrounding area by releasing moisture through a process called transpiration, lowering the temperature by up to 9°F.

What a painful and fascinating photo. Seeing "tree coffin" planting here in Mr Shipley’s photo really makes you realise why we are not seeing flourishing trees, even when councils do go to the effort of planting them. Coffin planting is when the space and soil volume is insufficient for tree roots. This can lead to malnourished trees, that are unable to provide their full canopy cover, rain retention properties and habitat benefit. Environment Agency and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs can policies and planning guidance help address this in the UK? Woodland Trust Partnerships

Have you ever wondered why you rarely see a tree thriving in a parking lot setting? When a containerized tree is planted in a typical planting pit it is essentially being transferred into a larger container. Trees can't thrive if their root growth is severely restricted. Generally speaking, the ideal planting season is between spring and fall. In spring, the weather is usually mild, and it's the time of year when nurseries start filling up with color. Fall is another popular planting period. The soil is typically still warm, which allows roots to grow until the ground freezes.
